Hello All, I'm new to your site. I have a 42'x45' pole building and the more I read about insulating them the more conflicting information I see. I am framing out a 24x30' portion for a shop and am wondering about insulation methods from the guys who have been there. My building is north of the twin cities in Minnesota. I do get some condensation certain times of the year so am wondering about some of the reflective vapor barriers. I don't want things getting wet after I insulate. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I have insulated a few pole structures and rolled fiberglass insulation is by far the easiest to install. It can be ordered to whatever length you require, 4' wide and comes with a white, heavy poly backing (vapor barrier) that overlaps the next strip. The type i ordered was 6" thick giving it an R20 rating.

spray foam is more money up front, but sure is nice in a cold climate. you will save on heating forever

I'm going to go with spray foam when I insulate mine, hopefully within the next month. The fiberglass roll types tend to be a haven for mice in my area. Tight doors and windows... they still manage to get in somehow.

Spray foam is nice because it fill the void between standard batts and the sheet siding, where condensate can form and subsequently drip.
