buy Mirka mesh and cut to size
thanks, but I am more interested in the hook and loop backing pads. A friend says it is better to use ones that have the metal backing plate. It is a bit hard to tell which ist metal. Most of them have black surface that appears to be metal. Other such as Dewalt have schews that mount to the rubbe pad.

I am thinking it might be better have seveal steel ones around & get some thick rubber & hook & loop fabric and simply make your own. Might be worth it if you use the multi-tool a lot.

I was examining various multi-tool pads and I noticed that the Dewalt has a solid rubber pad. The others use a foam rubber pads.

It's a consumable, oem is typically the best.

Easy enough to drill any style to fit yours.

The backing pad material dictates how aggressive you want to remove material and surface shape. Softer for contours and curves, less removal. harder for flats and rapid removal.
