What is the best paint for a finished garage that will see general home garage use and a little car cleaning and washing????
When you wash a car indoors, you hose off the roof and the water goes all over the walls and all the stuff in your garage?
Or do you have a dedicated wash bay with walls on all sides and enclosed vapor tight light fixtures?
My ignorance is based on my local climate. I can wash outdoors year round.
To answer your question, I like Benjamin Moore Scuff X. It’s the most durable and washable paint I’ve ever seen. I use it on shelving.
oil base not latex for prime coat, latex top coat is OK. Latex primer does not soak into wallboard or compound. Moisture gets under it and lifts it over time. As to the primer, a light coat is good, as moisture will pass through it. Heavy primer or two coat will seal moisture behind it.
Make sure you use drywall “SEALER” and not primer . Semi gloss or high gloss top coats . Dulux Diamond or Benjamin Scuff X will be your two most washable/wipeable finishes. Also forgiving with water marks .
