My moto-garage is shaping up. The Global Industrial steel shelving worked out nice (although a bit more than I wanted to pay). My 1' x 8' x 23/32" plywood shelves on Knape and Vogt brackets worked out nicely too.
I'm at the point where I want to build tempered hardboard pegboards on the remaining waist level wall space. One time I made the mistake of buying 1/8" pegboard. I quickly learned my lesson and always bought 1/4" thereafter. I build frames out of 1 x 2" to mount it on.
On this build, I was thinking prepainted white pegboard might make the workspace a little friendly and brighter than the bare brown board. There's no windows and it's a one car (small) space. The dilemma is that the local Home Depot (and Lowe's) only offers the white board in 3/16". Probably the heaviest item I anticipate mounting on the board is a HF deadblow hammer. I don't want to paint 1/4" board white.
Am I taking a chance using the 3/16" vs the 1/4" board? I'd hate to go to the trouble of having to redo the project.
