Blows the doors off any dedicated penetrating spray:

Works even better if you put it on before the rust happens.

Damn....not one person has mentioned FREE ALL. Knocks the dog piss out of PB blaster and made in Cleveland also. Ive never used this Kroil so cant compare, but somebody once said Free All will free anything but convicts. Best stuff ive used...ever. My shop gets it from LKQ and i hide cans of it around the shop in case we run out.

I have a few samples containers of Free-All, it is good stuff. I actually pass by their place every day on my way to work. Not to get too off topic, but one of my absolute favorite products they make is the Tub O Towels!

FWIW the WD in WD40 is from Water Dispersing lubricant, version 40....
I use PB blaster 90% of the time and when used it does make a difference much quicker then many others I've used. Liquid wrench works, but takes time where PB is much quicker. The best I ever used was called Tasgon. It was a byproduct of gas production - and would leach it's way through the seems and pores of the pipes. We have a can left but as expected no product as the seams of the can only hold for so long.

I've tried freeze off at some recommendations and it was ineffective and costly. Knocker'loose is on par with PB so far....
FWIW I've read and plenty of use would confer that many penetrating oils are indeed corrosive, PB being highly. This helps dissolve the rust in the threads and give space for the oil to go. Use it on a part multiple times and don't wash it off to see the results.

Been using Break Free since it was military only (called CLP)... no penetrating properties for freeing stuck fasteners that I've ever seen, tho it's protecting not only my firearms, but my paintball markers and pellet/bb rifles and has been for years.

We stock PB, liquid wrench, deep creep, and triflow at work. they all used deep creep as penetrant until I got there, and were amazed how much faster PB works. Wish we carried Kroil, but unless we do they will never ok me getting it when we stock others that do the job "just as well".

Just a cut/paste on two interesting products, will have to get Tap Magic $11.50 for 4 oz and read positive comments about the Mopar stuff in the past.

"Having a shop in IL I run into alot of heavy rust on suspension.

Started using a tapping fluid a few years back. Its called Tap Magic. It just takes a few drops on the nut and give it a sec to soak. They come loose instantly.

I have used PB Blaster and products like that. Worthless in my honest opinion. Much too messy and never have worked for me."

^^^^
"yes I have to agree Tap Magic is the tops....

A buddy of mine owns a suspension driveline shop here in OKC.... He swears by the stuff....

just a couple of drops go have a quick 5 minute break and come back and pops right off...."

and

"I typically use Mopar Rust Penetrant, also known as Heat Control Valve Solvent. It's not cheap, but it's a nice foaming penetrant that really eats up the rust. GM also carries the same stuff under their own part number. "

Oh No, a heads up the the GM stuff

"Richard, my favorite was GM Heat Valve Lubricant, sold from GM dealers under an 8 digit part number. I used to do thermal work on exhaust systems, some with 100k on them and been driven thru Michigan salt. Needless to say, rust, corrosion and frozen/stuck bolts. The procedure shown to me was to douse all the bolts, nuts or studs you needed to remove most thoroughly, go take a 1/2 hour break, eat a sandwich, make some calls, whatever. Then come back and the bolts just spun right off with a minimum of fuss. Made a believer out of me on the first job.

The current formula of the same stuff isn't the same...watered down, changed for environmental or personal safety, whatever...it doesn't work nearly as good. I'd guess they changed around 1995."

Like my father once told me when I asked him when I was a kid if Kroil would free up a seized ratchet, his reply was: "Kroil is get the **** out of my life, and die."

To this day I use Kroil.

Work at an agriculture service shop. Tested all name brand stuff. Aero-Kroil for penetration and Sili-Kroil for basic lubrication. Never-cease for anything that really needs lubrication.

Any one ever hear of cimguard?Made by milacron. My neighbor builds engines and when he runs into frozen crank/pistons he swears by this stuff! He gave me can and it works better than anything I've ever used. I've used ABOUT every thing listed in this thread except the home brew.

I'm a Kroil fan.

When I was in college in PA, a friend of mine had it (his dad brought it home from the mill he worked at) and I was hooked. I went to change the shocks on the rear of my S10 and broke a stud. I sprayed the other side with Kroil and it came off. Anecdotal, yes, but I have a bunch of experiences just like it. I could never find it for sale, this was before the internet. I thought about doing a test or something because I would swear up and down it is better then Blaster, which is better than WD40.

When I moved to NC, I found some at a Napa at the coast. The coast can have rust issues like the North due to the ocean saltwater. I just finished off the gallon of Kroil I bought at Napa in 2000 just a couple months ago. I use a WD40 sprayer because it will eat the cheap garden sprayers.

I enjoyed seeing the test posted by LORDDiESEL in post #38 as if you were to ask me to rank them, my list would be exactly the same.

Since my Kroil is out and I saw that test, I have mixed up 50-50 acetone and atf. I will see how well it works. If it doesn't work well I'll buy the gallon of Kroil. I don't think it's a gimmick, I think it works better, the test helps prove it.

For those who ordered direct from Kano, did you have any issues with your order getting processed? I placed an order over the weekend and zero follow thus far including no confirmation email or charge activity on my CC. I dropped them an email today just to confirm if the order was processed.

I've ordered a number of times. Never a problem. They don't spend time sending out confirmations or anything, or they didn't last time I checked. Great place to deal with, but don't expect tracking info or anything.

I kind of figured that as the ordering form seemed very low tech. The pop up page indicated shipping would take place within 2 business days, which is today... so I will just be patient.

Yes and I saw it on Amazon

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It is a lot cheaper of you buy it directly from KANO. Right now a gallon bottle is $53 from Kano and around $100 + $15 shipping on Amazon.

Here is the current KANO order form. https://websecure.cnchost.com/kanolabs.com/orders/order.shtml

When you call and order yu have to give them a company name since they don't sell to the public( I just give them my name with incorporated After it and they never questioned it)

Something tells me you work at kano?

Not necessarily. Thier chemicals are meant for industrial use and not meant for consumer use. They used to tell you that when you called to order the stuff. That's why I always put an INC. after my name when I ordered the stuff directly from them.

Not sure if they sell to the public now on Amazon, or if it is another person selling it on Amazon under a similar name. What I do know it it is twice the price of you buy it off amazon.

I use WD-40.It works ok and it's not really toxic.I used to be a painter and I've used enough of all the nasty solvents like acetone and now I avoid them whenever possible.

I've used Kroil and would rate it as the most effective penetrating oil i've used. PB blaster ranks second for me.

S'ok is my go to. Used it for years back when I turned wrenches for a living working on heavy equipment.

Aerokroil or kroil? I've used aerokroil and I'm not a huge fan of aerosols because of the amount of waste... but I wasn't sure how it was to apply liquid kroil out of the bottle.

I use one of these $9 refillable aerosol type bottles from Menards. They work great.
I buy my Kroil for Around $55 a gallon direct from KANO. The prices online are nuts.

You can buy Kroil on Ebay too. I have been buying it direct from the manufacturer. They have been sending me offers for 2 can and free shipping. Every product they sell is good.

Knock'r Loose, I've never found anything better. Look it up on YouTube
I use Kroil also but in my opinion it's not as good as knock'r loose. There's a pretty good video on YouTube comparing the two.

Kroil is very good stuff, but like anything there is always something better. I have never used a better product than a torch and candle wax. After that its Swepco 808, then Northwoods Breakaway, then Corrosion X, then Kroil. I use NW breakaway and PB at work. Breakaway is non flammable and has a 30,000 volt dielectric strength. PB certainly isnt bad, especially if you can let it sit for awhile. WD-40 is a good cleaner. I will have to try tap magic for a "penetrating oil", sounds interesting to me, and I love Tap Magic. Anything is better than nothing. The proper thread compound, threadlocker, antiseize ect makes the job easier down the road.

I am disappointed. I got it to use on my wheels to get the valve caps off. Dozen application over a month and they are still stuck on.
So what is better than Kroil
