was wondering what the best place to get liner material is. There is a closeout store near me and I bought a roll of really nice stuff which I thought would be alot. It ended up costing me $5 and did 2 drawers. GEEZ! I see guys on ebay sell it for $28 for like 50 feet or something. Anywhere any cheaper? I know its just shelf liner

My toolbox didn't come with liners and I about choked when I saw the prices for regular liners so I went cheap and bought the perforated padded kitchen liner and did all my drawers for less than $10. I really like it because it doesn't let anything slide around. Downside is that stuff can get through and get the bottom of the drawer messy, but I keep an eye out for that now and make sure to close the drawers if I'm sanding and such. I might buy the typical liner later on, but only if I scored a really cheap deal on it.

Harbor Freight is about the best I've seen. Second being those three pack deals on Ebay.

Yep...the individually rolled stuff at HF is VERY good and actually keeps tools in place unlike a lot of other overpriced material (sears).

Hmm.. I've never noticed it at HF, but I'll have to take a look and see if ours has it. Does it have that nasty HF rubber smell though? I'll pass on it if it does

I bought a roll of black rubber mat from TSC. With a big framing square and box knife; I cut my own. It's very thick & works well. About $50 if I remember correctly...

I bought a roll of trunk carpet? I think that was what it was called. did 3 sets of 3 boxes, 1 3 set and a single and still have over half the roll. It wicks away moisture and looks good. Was 22$ if I remember correctly at the local auto parts store.

I used a roll of Yoga mat, this came in a 24" width the same as the depth of the drawers. It is black, it doesn't stick to the tools, leaves no marks or residue on the tools. Does not slide or bunch up either.

I did this also but I used the non perforated. Took about 3 different stores to get enough to do the entire box.

No real China rubber smell to speak of.

It is over where they have the drawer trays, and pegs board hooks are at my local HF. Next to the small tool boxes (Not chests, boxes).

Another option is to check out stores like TJ-Maxx, Marshalls, and Homegoods. They have a lot of kitchen stuff, and Yoga mats. Might find a deal...

Same here grabbed all the rolls of black that they had, $1 each. I had previously done this on my old tool box as well. Keeps everything in place when rolling the box around and keeps the tool box clean and also prevents scratches.

Black indoor/outdoor carpet. They had it in either Lowe's or Home Depot, I forget which. Maybe both?

In the past I've used the old computer mouse mats, the rubber type...computer guys are always throwing them out, and they are the right thickness for heavy tools.

I like the discount store yoga mats. With choice of color, you can coordinate with your box

I have some from Sears and some other from HF, I believe. I'm not sure why some places think their liners are expensive, it's not like their made of gold.

When I worked at GE, they provided everybody (paygrade R16) with a bottom box. In the stock room, they had a roll of florr matting that people used to line their boxes with. It worked pretty good.
