Best Regular Jump Box

I've searched around for a while and found plenty of info on "mini" jump boxes, but that's not what I'm after. Do any of the "normal" jump boxes perform better than the rest at the same price point? Any brands in particular to go with or avoid?

Right now the one I'm looking at is:

Seems like a quality piece, simple, for a reasonable price (not too cheap, not too $$$). Don't really need the tire inflator on some of them, or a flashlight/toaster/printer... Just a good, solid, reliable jump box that will start the cars.

I bought that one this past winter and it works great. I did a lot of research and it had the most CCA out of all of them at that price point.

Those "mini" chargers look pretty nice and I think if I would have know more about them when I bought my jump pack I would have looked pretty hard at them.

I prefer the Jump-N-Carry. Most of the towtruck drivers I've seen carry them, so that's what I went with.

this is what I carry in my roll back tow truck, we have 4 in total at work and have not had an issue. Nothing fancy about them but they do the job.

but you get what you pay for. I've used the jump and carry 660's, works well when they work.
Is this for home use only or are you in the automotive business

Everyplace I ever worked at used a jump n carry, have used the more powerful model and the jnc660. I like the jnc660 the best, so much so I have one of my own. I havent used it in ages but its still full charged! Ones we used at work get a workout everyday, never any issues.

My wife researched and bought one (JNC660) without my knowledge, input or approval.

It's saved us many times.

Turns out she is way smarter than I thought.

this will be for home use. had an issue arise this morning when i was already at work, and she came out to a dead battery. no one to help her jump meant a call to AAA. then she got to play the "waiting game" which thankfully wasn't too long this time. what do you mean by "when they work"? do i just need to ensure it stays plugged in when not in use?

For home I would get one of the newer mini ones personally. But of you have to have a big one the. jnc660 is great, none of them last forever but charge it every few weeks and it should last for quite a long time.

I have a Solar ES500 "Booster Pac" that I have used for years w/o any problems. It is also great for checking out 12v items on the bench. When I worked for a Tow company we used the same model, and I was always amazed at how many cars we could start before re-charging the jump pac.

I use my box every week on the tractor because I always forget to plug the damn battery tender in. I have had it for a few months and it works great. I also keep it in the Vette when out cruising. Someone always kills their battery due to heat soaked starters....or at least that's what they think lol...

Its worked fine for me for a couple of years now. Can often find it on sale for $10 less. The cables are only about 2 ft long, so that is a negative. Usually have to set it on a fender or the radiator support. If you have really cold winters then that 770 CCA version mentioned above would be a better choice.
Always leave it plugged in so its fully charged and ready to go.

Also no one has mention about the repair coupon -

The JNC660 is backed by a one-year limited warranty. Also included is a repair service coupon from the manufacturer that allows for a fixed-cost, one-time repair of the unit after the warranty has expired--regardless of the cause of the damage."

If i remember correctly its $75... so if it ever breaks they repair it or send you a new one for the price.

We bought one at work in a pinch when a guy dropped his JNC660 off the truck and destroyed it. It works ok but would only jump maybe 3-5 midsize cars before it wouldnt do much else. In a pinch its ok but NO one grabs it if they have a choice at work.

Good to know, we have several that are a bit beat, broken gauges, gauges dont work, etc. But never actually had one utterly fail to deliver anymore. Considering we have 6 of them Id say were doing good. Course 3 of them are new, plastic handles on the newer models means no matter what you cant arch stuff with them just laying about, but it also means when its damn cold out they are brittle and drop it on them and your SOL.
