Hey All!

My Garage is coming along nicely and I am now looking for a couple of 50's vintage Gas Pumps and a Air Meter. I am looking for a non branded Pump that can be branded to suit or theme and something that will last well outside in the weather, Being in Western Australia it does get hot so I don't want to get something over to find out they don't last outside.

Thanks Shane

I am not at all familiar with what is available in Australia. However, in the USA there are several small companies that make reproduction pumps from scratch. Some use aluminum, some use steel. Most say that they are for indoor use only. If you were in the USA and wanted one for outdoor use, I would suggest contacting one of these companies and have them use automotive paint for outdoor use. If similar companies exist in Australia, that might be an option. Other than that, I'd recommend looking into an original gas pump and having it professionally restored. Anyway you look at it though, it will be >$1500 US. I'm looking at getting one myself for a custom application, and debating whether to build it entirely myself, or start with an original in real bad shape.
One last tip, be careful looking on e-bay for gas pumps. There a LOT of reproduction pumps on e-bay. A friend of mine bought one, <$1000. It shipped unassembled and the top and globe was plastic as was a lot of the other parts. It didn't look very good in person either. I was thinking that if it sat outdoors for 1 year the plastic would be faded and cracked.

hi, thanks for that! I maybe missed the fact that I am after advise on American Made products: there is no good options here in Australia. Thanks for the tips though :)
