Ok everyone what is the best method of getting chips to stick to vertical surfaces? I just can't seem to get a good consistent look on vertical surfaces. I am here wondering how others do it.....Thanks everyone.....

Thick wet epoxy, Side arm throw very hard from a short distance. Be far enough away for some spread, close enough to keep the velocity up. I just did mine last night. Not as good looking as the floor but not to bad. Take a look at my thread.
The walls are tough. I really wonder if someone sells or should invent a gun for "spraying" chips. I though of trying to design something but I doubt it would make money.

I wonder if you could just blow them off a board or out of your hand with a compressor hose. Seems like it might be more random than throwing a handful??

Someone already makes a gun to do that . Basically it is a modified plaster texture gun. I have seen it used and tested it once but did not think it was all that for the price they wanted. It would work well if one was doing lots of verticals all the time. The company is Arizona Polymer I think.

My technique is like tojan above. Be farily close throw reallly hard while trying not to fall down in the wet epoxy and keep the spacing between throws pretty close together. You will end up with lots of flake on the floor so this requires having lots of extra flake that you can use on the next floor.

Its called a hopper gun and you use a small compressor with low psi to shoot it. Large chips dont work well with it. For a one time thing it doesnt make sense.

Best way to get good coverage is to roll epoxy on the wall, wait till it stops sagging and tacks up a bit, then throw the chips onto it very hard. Then use a dry roller and roll over it lightly to basically pack it on tight.

The next day use a rubbing stone to smooth it out, then seal it.

Thanks for the great answers. I have been doing the roll epoxy and chuck sidearm style right away while its as tacky as it can be. I have been thinking of doing them first and let dry up enough to **** up the chips then do the main floor as this seems to help with trying to do it on a wet floor. I kind of noticed if you throw at a slight angle works well too was just trying to see what others do. Tojan yours look really good. Hope we get some more answers as it wil lhelp us all......
