Hello! Been looking to buy a retractable garden hose reel for inside the new garage. There are some options on Amazon but I ordered one and it was basically plastic...even the spray nozel. I am looking for a quality retractable hose reel that I can pull in and out easy for washing cars. - any suggestions?

I have an Eley mounted to a 4x4 post. Though it is not retractable, in every other way it is the highest quality. You can wind the hose back quite easily, and the winding "resistance" is adjustable. You can reach a happy medium between not playing out extra hose when you pull it out, and ease of rewinding.

It was a thread just like this one that made me spend nearly $300 on an Eley hose reel and I have absolutely no regrets.

Another +1 for Eley.

Had mine for 5 years, still looks and works as good as it did on day 1.

Thanks all for your recommendation on ELEY, I have heard that before! I am hoping to be able to swivel the house as its on the back wall...do the ELEY reels unreel and reel back up even if the hose is pulled at an angle? Or do they make any swivel reels? I didnt see any on their website. Thanks for all the feedback!

I don’t know all the product line. That said, call them. Not only is the product great, the people there are as well.

I feel like I should start another thread on this but I wanted to put a second plug in for Eley. This thread got me thinking that I needed to buy the extension kit so my reel could hold more hose. As it is now, when I roll it up the hose starts to hit the mounting bracket if you don't neatly put the hose on the reel. I think I have 125' of hose on it.

Anyway, ordered the extension kit and tried to install it last week. It says on their website that the extension would work on 2009+ models and mine was bought in Dec 2012, so I thought I was good. The kit came with 3 longer bolts but no nuts and the existing nuts had different threads. Kinda annoying but thats ok I suppose. I also noticed my arm only had two bolts on the clamp for the axle, the instructions show 4 bolts on the model in the photos... Hmm, wonder if my reel can hold an extra 70-75' of hose.. So I sent them an email over the weekend and this morning I get an email with an order confirmation. They are sending me a new arm that has 4 bolts for the axle and the nuts for the bolts that go through the hub! Now thats a good business!

I REALLY like my Eley, but I am used to coiling it up on the ground or a hose hanger so anything would have been an upgrade.

It has even survived my ***** MIL, SIL, & BIL trying to get the hose on or off without unlocking it and still cranking the handle. I have mine set up as "perpendicular" due to where it is located on the house and how it goes both directions.

They are expensive so maybe I will reward myself with another one in a few years. That or really splurge and just get irrigation...

So how about best garden hoses? I will be using this in the garage and am looking for a 75' to 100' hose. I was looking at Flexzilla but didn't really need the bright green accent in my garage. Was looking for grey or black.

I use to always say the USA craftsman hoses but unfortunately those are long gone... May be able to find some NOS somewhere...

While they are $$, I would try one of the eley hoses if I were in the market.

Well while pricey, just pulled the trigger on the Eley 75’ hose. If it’s anything like the hose reel I just mounted on my wall, it’ll be worth it!

I bought the Eley hose reel 2 years ago based on what was said on these forums, and was happy with it until this spring when I took it out from the cellar storage. It was leaking from the swivel joint, and the hose blew out. Had me bummed out trying to find the location on their website for a warranty claim. Had to register, and then fill out the claim. Emailed it to them around 4 o'clock, and got a email back saying that my claim was approved for free replacement parts, and they were shipping them on the same day. My faith in them being a good company has been reinforced with the quick handling of a claim. I highly recommend them!

Has anyone got the flexzilla one? Thinking about this for my house getting built. Since I'm having the 3rd bay extended they have to move the hose bib and it will be inside the garage. Need something that can retract and swivel flattish against the wall when not in use.
