The best height for me is an 11" high stool when I'm changing oil under my scissor lift or doing a brake job. Couldn't find one to buy so I made one. Four swivel casters, a small pillow, upholstery material, and some wood laying around my shop. I also made a riser that raises the seat to a comfortable height when seated at my weld bench.

I have also been looking at this one but have not pulled the trigger yet. I have found several names on that one. Griots sells the same one with their name on it and a bit cheaper. Interested if anyone has this seat.
I bought the Griots seat about 6 months ago and I love it. There are several versions of this seat in other brands in different colors. The Griots and Powerbilt have the larger 4” wheels which work great. The Griots has an option for the cushion seat. That is also a great option. The seat is very stable, tools great, and is very comfortable. The plastic bottle holders are worthless and don’t stay in place. Skip those or remove them. Everything else is great.

I won this in a drawing at my local Advance Auto a couple years ago. I see they retail for about $45 these days. It's not too bad but I don't think I'd pay that much for it.

It was funny how I won it as they had a box with a big slot on it setting there to put your entry in, it was the last day of the contest, and I could see there were hardly any entries in the box so I figured my chances were good. Sue enough the next day they called and told me I could pick it up any time.

This. Upgrade the casters and it rolls like a dream.

HF 90997. NOT KIDDING

Upgrade the casters.

Did I say to upgrade the casters? I may not have mentioned it.

Been using these for years.

Worth every penny.

Upgrade the casters.

Same here. Really working out well. Mine may not technically have come from HF, I'm not sure, but it's the same thing.

I never need much of an excuse to drag out pics of my converted lawn mower seat.50000c6f3fc24f51dafca8578119221e.jpg5f87d81c4be83880336ca8d72c238436.jpg

That looks like Verne Troyer's (Mini-Me) executive chair!

Some of the stools posted on-here, I have motorcycle projects I paid-less-for! Then-again, this is 'the other stool' ("stool-remover?") I get to use daily, and which of these have you seen that come with a remote-control, unless you've been to Japan?

I have the inexpensive HFT red pneumatic stool, and I find me using it more-than the higher benchtop stools I have; the tall Craftsman one with a back, I find myself using the least, that's the one I offer to garage guests.

I have-not found a use for shelves/drawers under the seat, as I have a small 2-car garage, so all my hand tools are pretty-close at-hand. The HFT round open-tray, I really-don't use except on-occasion, I've discovered it captures some hardware nut, bolt, or washer I've dropped.

My Handi-Lift pneumatic bike lift, I find I use often as a workbench, if there isn't a motorcycle on it, and the HFT round pneumatic stool is a good height for using at the lift.

Just picked this up off of CL. Made in Huntington Beach CA, it's a very sturdy easy rolling doctors chair. I love that the designation is P-51.

I don't think it's the best shop stool but it works well and is pretty comfortable. An old Krug stenographers chair. The back is height adjustable and spring loaded. I replaced the old worn out castors with some Home Depot ones, they work great. The old 70's blue one behind it works good too. It needed the duct tape upholstery repair job and isn't as easy to clean.20210227_171627.jpg20210227_171651.jpg

I like my Vyper. I bought it after taking a spill off my cheap old stool. Pricey, yes, but really nice. If you get one make sure you order a couple of locking wheels for it. They roll almost to easily

Very pricey and I do not personally own one but my buddy does. It is VERY comfortable and rolls great. They're pretty big which is honestly the only reason I don't have one.

Not sure why such an old thread was resurrected, but I am thinking of upgrading mine. I have a Torin rolling stool, but it is too low to the ground to be comfortable for my worn out knees. I need something a little taller and am thinking of upgrading to this one:

I also like the Torin ones but I have the heavy duty version rated for 400 LBS!

Be cautious about the large round ones shown up thread. It's very easy to get something that is just too large and in the way.

I have this one.. it works great and is stable. I am sure it was on sale, but don't remember the $$

I had this style.. it was too narrow for me (front to back) and I kept tipping it backwards or would miss it, or it would tip when I hit a crack or something.

That's the one I have also. It's a nice stool and well built, but just too close to the ground to be comfortable for my worn out knees.
