Best sandblaster?

I am looking to get either a sandblaster or a sandblasting cabinet that can be used to blast bigger things (removable hose/gun?).

For example, I would like to be able to blast small things in a cabinet, while also being able to blast a subframe, but I am not sure if this sort of setup exists.

Anyway, what are your firsthand experiences with HF units and others? I really would rather not spend my money there if at all possible, however I have read that people believe that most small blasting cabinets are made by the same manufacturer?

Ceramic is better than hardened steel, but carbide nozzles a far better than ceramic. According to the TP website, they last about 30 times longer than ceramic. I used to go through a ceramic nozzle every couple months with occasional use. I put in a carbide nozzle about 10 years ago and it is getting worn, but is still usable. In the long run, a carbide nozzle costs MUCH less than a bunch of ceramic or hardened steel nozzles, well worth the money.

I would start checking the used market for a bargain as plenty of folk who don't know any better run damp/wet air in their blast cabs with less than stellar results and promptly fire sale the thing

I don't know how involved you want to get but you should at least Google "pressure assist blaster" and read about them. They combine the features of pressure blasters and suction blasters and have several advantages over both. Downside (perhaps) is that you have to build it yourself but it is inexpensive to do, I have about $75 in mine. I have a .pdf file on how to do it but it is too large to attach here so PM me if interested.

I happen to think the commercial unit are far better than the standard suction type cabinets.
This is the one I use, http://www.clemcoindustries.com/products_showitem_zero.php?item_id=19935 The ones that work the best have a reclaimer on the back of the machine. I never run out of medium to blast like all the cheaper units.

I have a TP tools **** Blast cabinet and I don't know what I did before. I also have a HF pressure blaster that is decent, but I rarely use it, never works like I would like it to, I find myself getting pi$$ed at it and just grabbing a grinder with 36 grit. As for a multi-type I haven't ever seen anything like what you are wanting but I'm sure with some imagination it could be built.

I do like the TP Tools 780-TL, but that does not solve my outside-cabinet blasting for subframes, etc

ive used the harbor freight cabinet and it works just need really clean air and replace the fittings and hoses. I just basically bought it for the cabinet. I got it on sale a few years ago for a hundred bucks.

I bit the bullet and got the 780-TL, made in Canfield Ohio, on sale for $399. Maybe I will pick up a small HF pot blaster for the big stuff.
