I'm looking to buy a set that has different types in a set ( torx, etc .) I have a snap on ratcheting screwdriver that has 3 different Phillips and 2 slotted.

I was looking at snap on sdm400a master set but can't see myself paying that . Is there any others you would recommend?

Retail on the sdm400a is offensive. The bits are top quality. I use them on a 20v impact driver all the time and on a ratcheting screwdriver. I have yet to break a bit. I have 2 sets. Watch ebay and you can get a good deal on them.

I bought both my Snap-on sets new in the wrapper off of ebay paid 50.00 for one set and 65.00 for the other. You just have to watch.

VIM makes a nice set too, 36 piece, with one of the best bit holders going if storing in a toolbox drawer.

Is VIM really that good? Ya I get they're sold on some Matco trucks and everything, but so are Matco bits. Meaning these are cheaper alternative.

Not sure what you mean by "really that good?".

Lots of posts from users that give VIM very high marks and VIM bits are generally considered a good value :dunno:

Also, VIM socket/bit holders are considered some of the best out there...

If you're looking for a universal set the Mac SBDR123SA has a ton of bits and comes with a Proto bit holder. Wiha and Wera have bit sets, as well as PB swiss.

I went with the blue point PTB32K a more budget friendlier version of the sdm400a. Regular 50 but my driver had them for 50% off.
