Hello everyone, new to the boards and love them.

Quick profile, I am an industrial technician and love my tools.

I am trying to find a good source for Wera tools. I got a few from chadstoolbox, but they don't have everything I'm looking for. Just wondering if anyone has some good info on this.

Also if anyone knows how to get an actual Wera catalog, I love to know that also. Scrolled through the one on CTB (pdf version), rather flip real pages.

Thanks in advance everyone.

I think a lot of people buy Wera from Amazon.com too. I have a few Wera items on my amazon wish list...

Amazon is really the key area....pricing is very respectable....next would the major industrial suppliers...MSC and such...and possibly a local supplier to you might have them

I was looking at some Wera screwdrivers today, and Sears.com has a few sets that competes with Amazon price wise...maybe even a tic cheaper.

Wera Tools: http://www.wera.de/cgi-bin/vshop?HTML=wera_us.htm has more info. Chad's seems to have the broadest range, and I've had very good luck buying there.

ToolTopia (via Amazon or directly) has a few with unusually good prices. Jamestown Tools, too: http://www.jamestowndistributors.co...oryName~Hand+Tools^categoryName~category_root

Once you get a model number, search the web. Wera seems to be getting more of their tools in distribution, and some sites offer good prices on particular tools. Some electronics dealers, such as MCM, are carrying a wide range of Wera tools, and if you get a site-wide sale coupon, you can get a good deal: http://electronics.mcmelectronics.com/?N=&Ntt=wera&x=16&y=12

Stay away from Grainger and Fastenal, unless you want to pay more than from any other site.

I am having trouble navigating chadstoolbox, it's tough to find sets. Can someone shed light on this? Do I have to look them up in the catalog then enter a catalog number or am I missing a link or search method?

I am having trouble navigating chadstoolbox

That's quite an understatement. It's one of the worst-designed sites I have ever tried to navigate. Even if you know exactly what you want, it's not easy to find it. The search function is not very helpful, either. So you're not alone.

I end up looking through the manufacturers' sites and/or catalogs to find information and model numbers, and then go to Chad's site (hoping that the numbers from the manufacturer match the number on the site). Many items have no pictures and even more lack useful descriptions. Some of the numbers appear in a form that's not quite a match, with spaces or dashes added or omitted, and the search function isn't sophisticated enough to deal with such things. For example, it must have taken me a half hour to figure out the differences between two Wera Bitcheck sets, going back and forth between Chad's site, the Wera US site, and more. I realized the difference was which bits were included, but finding what was included was a challenge.

Of course, there's usually a difference (lag?) between available stock, catalog listings, and website listings. And when you compare US and European sites, it gets worse. There are some tools that are apparently available in Europe that aren't available in the US; and they're not even shown on Wera's site (I think one of the heavy-duty screwdriver lines seems to have been changed to include a 1/4" or 3/8" ratchet driver insert on the handle).

Unfortunately, this problem also exists on Amazon and other sites. The item number, picture, and description of some Wera Kraftform screwdrivers are not always consistent (in other words, something is seriously wrong). I was looking for a KK-26 recently, and came up with three different descriptions and pictures on the web.

But the tools are worth the research effort!

The best thing about buying Wera at Amazon, is the free shipping, so you end up paying a LOT less than some other sites, especially if you buy a single replacement driver or a single set.

For instance, I recently purchased a new PH1 and 1/8" Slotted as replacements for worn out drivers in my set.

Chad's had the drivers for about $1-2 cheaper each, but they also charge $8.95 shipping, for even a a single $1 item.

So, at Amazon I ended up spending $13 shipped, and Chads would have been nearly double that, $22 shipped.
