I'd like to pick up some of the v wedge snap on's and give them a try. The rubber inserts have worked ok for me iver the years, but they do get lost and filled with crud.

I really like the Hazet magnetic sockets. Particularly now that all the tool truck **** is sneaking in from Taiwan.

Check out the Ko-ken clip type plug sockets.
Ko-ken make the rubber type but as has been said the rubber doesn't last, the clip type are two stainless steel spring clips that grip the plug very well and inside the socket there's a brass locator that protects the plug.

Ko-ken used to do the magnetic type but Toyota Japan found the magnets could play games with ECU's fitted to modern vehicles if the socket was put close to the cars brain.

Ko-ken make 3/8" drive 13mm, 14mm, 16mm, 18mm & 20.8mm in U/J, standard, 180mm long & 250mm long. Also similar in 1/2" drive.

It's a **** shoot. If you're having prblems with losing the rubber insert, try a little 3m gorillia snot (weatherstriping cement) to hold it in place. I have the v wedge set from Snap on and don't really care for it. It's one of those things that will let go when you don't want it to let go and you have to fight with it at times to get to release. My favorite regular spark plug socket is about a four inch long SK model that has lots of knurling at the top for hand starting and finger spinning. Sadly, I have worn the rubber insert out and it no longer retains spark plugs.

I must be a barbaric heathen because I just use regular deep sockets. And I might even use a 12 point; how sacrilegious is that? :D

I have a set with the rubbers in them, and a set without. I tend to use the ones without, and start the plugs until hand tight, with a piece of old air hose. Then I don't need the rubber, as the plugs just need to finished up.
Now, I have an old socket, that I will have to find. (may have been in my stolen box), that had a plastic inside, with a + shaped piece that centered the spark plug. Never seen another one like it, as I believe the company shipped all tool making overseas.
