For you guys who take care of your toolboxes, what do you use to clean the **** off the surface. Now I don't clean my box, 10 years of grease covers it. Now on the other hand, my new weber grill that I paid way to much for is a different story. I bring it home this spring, the perfect place in the garage for it is under the neon clock. Well, big shock, it is covered in bug **** now. I can't get the stuff of, the harshest stuff i have tried is contact cleaner. I don't want to wreck the paint even in a tiny spot nobody will ever see. I know somebody here has the perfect cleaner for me.

erm.. how about bug remover?

I found bug and tar remover to remove the powder coat on my non SO box. ymmv. I used it to remove the sticky residue from removing decals. It worked well, but I lost some paint in the process. I'd try some watered down simple green with a white rag and see what happens. If you see color you shouldn't be seeing then move on to something else. Don't be surprised if your paint is already messed up from the droppings btw.

The girlfriend had one of those erasers in the house, took it right off Thanks!

They really are magic. I use them to clean the bugs off my helmet to getting all the greasy/dirty hand prints off the walls around light switches.

For the weber grill you want to use Wenol. Trust me on this. Don't put these solvents suggested on that grill.

Try WD40 or Ronsonol. Both are safe on paint. Armor-All all purpose automotive cleaner is also pretty good.
