Ive been finding some okay deals on cheap wire wheels for getting rid of rust on vises and other tools. they have the same shaft and locking mech as normal impact bits. so naturally i tried it in my drill and my impact. but the high speed just isnt there to make them too useful, is there some type of an adapter for an angel grinder you can use for these? or is there 120 volt right angle die grinders that these work with? i also have some that just have a 1/4 inch round shaft wich i can only use in my drill. i figure they are made for some type of grinder with a collet but ive never seen one that isnt air powered

EDIT: looking for 120 volt tool. or 20 volt dewalt.. no access to air supply here.

heres some examples of what i have.

These are meant for die grinders with high rpm's. Makita, Milwaukee and Bosch make cordless versions, but not Dewalt. Makita, Dewalt and others I'm sure make a corded version though. A Dremel is another option. Here are two examples of good corded versions. https://www.zoro.com/dewalt-die-gri...3cVin8R0u4rSmCDwhBvDmhoCojfw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Keep in mind, "good deals" or cheap wire wheels can be dangerous and even worthless if you're not careful. I bought some wire wheels from a guy at a flea market that bent and blew to pieces after about 5 minutes of use.

I haven't tried it so might not be the best option. But my Fein cordless drill gets close to 4000 RPM so it may work well with those. I'm not sure if Dewalt makes one that goes that high but might be another possibility.

I have an old 3/8 corded VSR Dewalt drill I use for those. Its an old beater drill and seems to do OK ? A little bulky though. I don't think there will be a great option. The wires tend to exit the wheel pretty fast on my die grinder, so I avoid that.

Have a close look and see what they are rated for. Im sure the one on the right is no more than 5000rpm. That would rule out all die grinders (pneumatic).

High speed drill might be the way to go if you haven't got air to access.

Each one of those wire wheels has the max speed stamped right on the metal disc. Most die grinders don't turn slow enough without turning the wire wheel into a porcupine that launches his quills. Even if you have eye protection on, you'll still get wires stuck into your face.

these wire wheels also can be used with high speed die grinders:

Some brushes are meant to go on cordless drills, but a drill with a brush doesn't make for a great tool. I have a Metabo GE 710 Plus which works well with brushes, flap disks, burrs, etc, it goes from 10k to 34k which is certainly not low enough for the 4500 rpm brushes but it does give it a lot of utility.

I use a Snap-on PT265 and PT245 inlin drills. These are great tools that Snap-on sadly stopped producing. I do not recall the exact RPM of each but I believe they are 3600 RPM and 4600 RPM which is ideal for what you are trying to accomplish. Check ebay for used versions
