Moving from my 2.5 car garage to an acreage with 40'x30' shop.

I picked up a Jawhorse yesterday on recommendation from friend. Jury's still out...it's still in the box.

What has been your best tool purchase this year?

My new SK LP90 ratchet and SK 3/8 drive socket set. I have had only my giant set of us craftsman sets for the last 25 years. Never understood all the hate for the raised panel ratchets since that is all I have ever used.

Now I understand after trying something different. I love the new SK stuff. Wish I had upgraded sooner. It is going to cost me a lot of money to now buy a 1/2” and 1/4” set to fully replace my craftsman set.

I finally bought the 1828 a couple of weeks ago with the Ebay specials. I've only used it on one thing so far. It seems as powerful as advertised.

I got the Astro 1822 along with their stubby nano sockets and they work wonders when removing those hard to reach top bell housing bolts, caliper bolts or any tight spaced fasteners. As Eric O would say "it gives out some good ugha dugha's"

Watch the flea markets. I picked up a set of SK round heads cheep and ordered the DX80 upgrade kits for them from HJE. They work great! :bounce:

Makita 18v 1/2" impact. For most light automotive applications it gets it done (200+ ft-lb), it is compact and light, no air hose to jack with, etc. Love it. I'm sure you could do similar or even better with Milwaukee or others but I was already bought in to the Makita batteries. Just get one for whatever cordless system you're bought into

I finally opened up the piggy bank and ordered a cheap Eastwood bead roller and some dies for a floor project a month or 2 ago. I had been looking at different ones for a few years but didn't think it would be something I would get much use out of, but just in the little bit I've used it so far, and what I think I can use it for in the future, its paid for itself a few times over already. kicking myself for not having bought one a while ago!

Hard to pick just one. No-mar tire changer, Harbor Freight bike lift, the benches I built a few weeks ago, or the 30x40 shop containing it all! 97910c1d94ca6538311b84b18dd9a6af.jpg0f283ead950f99109e09acc5e421580c.jpg

I got a stihl ms170 chainsaw for around the yard, has saved me a bunch of time.

2nd best I had to change the pump on my karcher pressure washer, I put on a budget princess auto unit and it's been great so far. Another big time saver.

Lift would be my best purchase ever($500 for a 90's era rotory)

But my best purchase this year, was a HF portable band-saw, and a SWAG off-road stand. best of both worlds,The precision and finesse of a vertical band-saw and one thumb screw, and its portable again. No more crazy imprecise cuts with a angle grinder!

My Modis Edge. I've needed it three times now, and between parts and labor, I figure it's saved me about 2/3 of what I paid for it. Not having a real scan tool was frustrating.

The tools I bought to keep my Explorer on the road :lol_hitti

That includes a right angle drill and left hand bits and assorted extractors for the leaking exhaust manifold.
The bigger torque wrench for the axle nut for bearing replacements.
The remote hose clamp tool for the radiator replacement.
The MightyVac pump for the transmission fluid replacement.
The Lisle broken spark plug tool for a plug change.
The paid version of Torque and Forscan for diagnostics along with the bluetooth adapter.

OK - not just this year - but there is definitely a pattern here.

That reminds me - I should probably start looking for a used engine hoist :(

Most useful by a mile... Astro Pneumatic digital inflator.

Best deal... won a SO TLLF72 and a 6” SO 1/4” wobble extension on eBay for like 36 bucks and shipping.

Just bought one of these but I don't have it yet. It's evidently inside a container on a cargo ship somewhere between taiwan and here. :(

Can't wait.

For this year, definitely the best tool purchase has been my Wilton Torco 3.5 I paid $20 for.

I bought my first 12v cordless tools this year (Bosch drill/driver and impact driver) and I rarely pick up my 18v's anymore...
