The new supercharged V6 s4 should be a bit quicker than a BMW 645, but I'm guessing that if you smoked it in a NON SC s4...he might have been holding a cup of coffee and talking on the phone.
Except for that little turbo-lag problem the newer model Audi A4/S4 cars have had. My wife's 2001 S4 BiTurbo can take most BMWs off the line. Stock. Flat out the fastest 4-door car I've ever driven.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here's what the garage basically looks like now:

That's not a garage, that's an indoor storage unit/laundry room. :wtf:

Matco 6331RX and 6331TC would be my personal favorite. They come with their own zip code.

i kind of agree. there is no room in there for two boxes and a wood top with room in between for a stool or chair. maybe if you park one of the cars outside it may work. seems like he is going more for a look than needs or functionality anyway. nothing wrong with that but the talk of a lift also. it ain't gonna happen in that garage.

Be careful. The M6 is NOTHING like a 645. My Silver one is basically stock running with 500 HP, but my black one has been "adjusted" a bit and rolls out 610 HP. They turn real good too! ;-)

I like the M6's. Curious, what does it take to get 610 out of that 5.0 V10? Is that a rwhp #?

My plan is to get two of the same height (about 38") and width (about 20") and have a "top" built for them to make a work bench that I can pull a chair under.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Reading what you have written - ie - that you do not do your own mechanical work, I don't see the need for two mechanic's type "tool boxes". If you use buffers, polishing supplies etc - then perhaps two cabinets with adjustable shelving would work better for you. No reason you can't suspend a desktop between them, or just buy low profile cabinets.

Doesn't sound you will need or use a bunch of 1, 2, or 3 inch tall drawers. Perhaps a couple of cabinets with shelves and others with "mechanics tool drawers".

Even better - how about cabinets with full extension "shelves" or drawers.

Pictured bleow is a LISTA Cabinet - this one is too large for your use - but I show it to give you some ideas of what LISTA may be able to supply on a custom basis. The point is this cabinet has doors that glide side to side, with full extension drawers {shelves?} that are fairly open. With lots of space between the drawers for tools like buffers, drills and other typical home use power tools. Many of which come in their own blow molded cases today.

Cabinet doors that slide side to side for access - saves floor space because the don't have to swing open out into the garage. Full extension drawers, in place of shelves - allow easy access to items in the back.

Lots of options besides the typical Snap-On or LISTA mechanics type tool boxes.

good luck,
Carl B.

I agree with CarlB... think that a cabinet with roll-out shelves rather than drawers would work well for your use/needs. I have two office steelcase cabinets with roll-out drawers that I use for power tool storage and they work great! Plus those office cabinets are less deep than a traditional tool chest/cabinet, so they take up less space in a narrow garage. Mine are 18-inches deep. Recommend attaching some of those felt pads for furniture legs on the roll-out drawer edges... it will save the paint on your car doors. :)

Snap-On: for their drawer strength
Hazet : for heritage, functionality and looks
Lista : somewhere inbetween, over, or at least very close

even though, I love:

from the new world:
- the old Kennedy's,
- the old Craftman (round edged ones)
- and the 70's SO KR 500's (2 tone ones)

from the old world:
- the old Gedore (Adjudant)
- the old Stahlwille (esp. the 'Rollmaster')
- the old Elora (discontinued?) old caddy and buddy range

Those pics seem to be more focused on the cars than the garage, but i would reccomend snap on, they make some nice boxes
