Best Very Low Profile Jack

I read this forum all the time but this will be be my first post ever relating to VERY low profile jacks. I have a lowered race car with 3" clearance that makes getting a jack under it a huge pain. I am tired of driving up on 2x12 blocks I made to get service jacks under the car. The solution has been the Sunex 6602LP. This is an Ultra Low Profile jack that I measure at about 2.6 inches in pad height and I love it! It has a long low arm that can even reach my rear differential and because of the long arm it will jack the car up to 2 feet in height as well.

I'm writing this post because I wanted a second jack and I have read how competitive Harbor Freight has been in the jack market with lower cost models of popular jacks. Their claim to fame being their Daytona version of the Snap on FJ300 which is legitimately the same quality at 1/4 the price and because of a law suit they can now make that claim legitimately.

Unfortunately, despite HF stating "compare to..." on all their ads for jacks, there is no comparison. I went so far as to buy their comparator model on sale for $199 and hauled it home only to find that it sits almost a full inch higher than my Sunex. Mind you the Sunex costs about $200 and HF's famous coupon deals don't work with jacks.

So my post is merely to state this - If you want the lowest profile all around jack for about $200 buy the Sunex 6602LP. Today I bought my second jack shipped from ACMETOOLS.COM for $199.74 with promo code SUNEX15.

They show up on Warehouse Deals fairly regularly. I got my first 6602LP at $180 and the second at $190. It just means the box is damaged, which tends to happen to ANY cardboard box with a 100# wrecking ball in it

I bought the yellow HF jack today, and I'm mightily impressed at first-blush.

The Sunex 6602LP looks virtually identical to the Pittsburg extended low-profile jack I just got rid of (60678) - don't think they make that exact jack any more. The lowest they seem to have is 3 1/8"

Just bought a Sunex 6602LP a couple of weeks ago. Needed a low profile unit, as the air suspension was completely down on the Audi. Had about 3/4" clearance when I rolled it under the car.

My AC Hydraulics claims 3.15". Compared to my Sunex I would say this is accurate - the front wheels of the AC appear slightly larger

I was agreeing with him The Pittsburgh I just got rid of yesterday is almost identical in specs to the Sunex (same minimum height, very similar specs overall).

FWIW, I don't think "lowest" = "best" - I'd guess the Sunex and the ATD are both made by the same factory as my previous jack, and while it was long and low, it wasn't amazing (I found it a bit touchy to release/lower).

Of course, a jack that doesn't fit under your car is a terrible jack

Now that may be the same factory as the 6602LP, and I wonder if the Arcan XL2T isn't also identical. They all spec 2.75" min height and all appear visually identical (to me)

For what you are looking for and what you currently have, there are only two I can think of that would potentially be better. The AC Hydraulics DK13HLQ and the Omega 29023 (also rebranded as an ATD-7325).

Again, the issue w at least the DK20HLQ appears to be the casters. Sunex on left. From pics it looks like the lesser-rated DK13HLQ might use the same front wheels.

Also at one point the OP specified "around $200." You, of course, won't touch an extended reach AC for that

AC front wheels are 3.270 w o-ring. Now, of course that'll squish out SOMEWHAT but NOT entirely.

Wheel OD sans o-ring is 3.170, which would basically explain AC's written specs of 3.150 min height

I have had my 20 AC for a long time and mine never came with the O-Ring or groove as it appears in the photo but I do wish I had the 13 long reach also

The OP stated his criteria in Post #1. He needs 3" so the AC Hydraulics are anything but the best for him - they are in fact not even contenders

I haven't seen a single poster BEST the OP's original info for an LP jack that can roll under 3" clearance and cost around $200 -- actually just the former is all that matters and hasn't been bested yet. Not that OP was inquiring, he was just trying to share his experience

It doesn't actually because OP's point was the HF jack doesn't go as low as he needs. He stated the Sunex jack was the only one he found low enough.

Although there has been a lot of praise for the HF Daytona jack that's supposedly identical to the Snap On version. So it's not that absurd of an idea.

That's what I was trying to communicate earlier - if you're looking for sub-3" HF doesn't have a jack for you any more that I can find - lowest now is 3-1/8". The top of the line Daytona is 3-3/4".

My Pittsburgh 60678 2-ton low profile/long reach was really low - 2-5/8" and went to 23-3/4"

I finished setting mine up today - hard to describe, but it feels like a much nicer jack than the ~5 year-old Pittsburgh low-profile extended-reach it replaced.

When did HF quit selling the low profile 68050 model Pittsburgh jack? I have that jack and it appears to be under 3” clearance. If I recall correctly, max lift was around 24”.

Hi folks OP here and I knew I could count on you guys to provide some valuable insights related to jacks. I’ll comment on a few items:

The Snap on “killer” from HF is a legit Jack for around $220, and I would recommend that yellow Daytona jack to anyone looking for a high quality jack at a good price. I know, HF and quality in the same sentence, I can’t believe I’m saying it either.

I had the Matco “Beast” for about a week and sold it. It lifts a lot and is very sturdy but had a small leak and when I went to fix it, found out it was a Sunex power unit! What I’ve come to realize is that a lot of these jacks use the same frames or lifting units but just rebrand themselves. I’m such a ho when it comes to names like Snap On, Matco etc... that I blindly assume they make the best. NO they often times just rebrand the best units on the market and charge more.

My post was intended to not solicit which jack was better but to act as a helpful aid for those needing a good affordable low profile jack. I had no idea how much of a difference an inch made when selecting a jack but if it won’t fit under the car, I can’t use it or I have to play the wood block game which I hate.

So thanks for all the chime-ins. I’m not sure if ACMETOOL is still running the 15% off sale but it’s a great Jack for $200 and they already have the thing on its way to me.

With the exception of the color, that Sunex jack looks almost identical to the Harbor Freight Pittsburgh 68050 that they no longer appear to carry and the specs are essentially the same.

I found the Omega 29023, whose cradle is lower and whose reach is longer than AC Hydraulics jack, for $250 (used in great condition) and it came with a pair of homemade wooden ramps. It is certainly worth watching the used markets if you know what to look for.

That is not the right jack to compare to. The better one is the HF DS300LR, it is a low profile LONG REACH and is lower and goes further under the car before a rise. Not 3" though. It lists as 3 and one thirds inches. I am looking at the DS300LR and the Arcan Sunex ones listed in this thread. I only need 4 inches of clearance so they both work. I like the foot pump addition to the HF though.

It's a different animal than any of their other Daytona branded jacks including that HF 'Heavy Duty' DS300LR long reach. Go look at them side by side in the store. The 'Super Duty' has thicker steel, larger casters, more grease fittings, etc. It also comes with a 3 year warranty. The others including that DS300LR only come with 90 days.

I have the same HF jack, DS300LR. It’s been a great jack. But I’ve never owned a “name brand” jack. Don’t get it for the foot pump. Mine snapped off day 1. Didn’t want to throw it back in the truck and return it. Just figured how much leverage could one get with their foot on a 2 1/2” foot lever vs a 4+’ handle.

I do realize that but it does not go back very far until you hit the rise. The ratings on HF are actually a little better for the DS300LR. I think the leaks are reported just a little more on that Super Duty in the reviews, many factors besides 1 U-cup seal. The best part of the Super Duty to me is the large saddle. The DS300LR has a puny 3 and 3/4" saddle. Pathetic. yet it sells like crazy and gets great reviews??

Not sure. You would probably have to drill it and void warranty. I am ordering my Sunex 6602LP today, should be in by 4 to 10 days. I used up Home Depot gift cards as it was on sale for $236.32. I am going to explore that when I get it. I saw the AC Hydraulics saddle at Pelican, the one for the main jacks DK20Q, DK20HLQ and the DK13HLQ. For $9.00. I had a similar thought. But if this little saddle does well on my lifting points, I will leave it.

Is the saddle removable? If so, what size is the hole. I want to be able to use an EOM floor jack crossbeam with it that has a 1 1/4" stud.

Saddle is removable with a 10mm Allen wrench/socket.
Center screw/bolt has a diameter of 7/8" but may also be metric. But there is a cross piece of steel underneath preventing any stud of any depth.

FYI. I got my Sunex 6602LP floor jack, ordered from Home Depot for $236.32. All I had to do is take the top box cover off and knew it would be sent back. The lifting arm was way off center, maybe a 1/8 - 1/4 gap on the right looking form the rear of the jack. And about a 1 and 1/8 inch gap on the left. Returned it the next day to Home Depot. They are great on returns. Ordered another one and it is 7-8 days out. Never tried it. Now I decided to get the HF DS300LR long reach low profile 3 ton as it has a coupon for 30 bucks off good until tomorrow, 04-13-2023. I will have them both for a short period and then just keep one.
