I got a quality vice I bought 50 years ago .......I hardly ever use it ....last use Id think was holding hydraulic hose to reuse the fittings ......reusable hose is a thing of the past now ,you just buy new off ebay .........anyhoo,I got a free vice with a rusted screw ,and been checking marketplace for parts ,and yes .....buying more vises I dont need ...........what I cant believe is the number of vices that are totally beat up .....why would anyone feel the need to hammer on the handle ? ...get the last pound of hold or what? .....and bend the handle like a pretzel?

Smoking deal on that for ~$110; I paid slightly more for mine 4 years ago. Solid vise, no issues, mine is still going strong. Only criticism I have of it is the stupid rubber/plastic rings on the handle; it deserves a proper handle as it's not a $39 POS vise.

Thanks it was great timing that @paulsomlo recommended it

I also recommended it in post #29 :D . I'm a huge fan of the ADIs for the $. There's a vocal minority here that strongly advocates chasing after old USA vises on Marketplace or CL. Because somehow, fictionally, vintage cast iron is superior to modern cast iron, and even ADI. It's not, but it's also fine if you want a project. And I'm sure there are some great deals in certain areas if you're willing to invest the time. But there's nothing but overpriced **** where I live. Either way, the ADI steel is much stronger than typical cast iron and you don't have to run all over the place looking at overpriced beat up junk. The slide fits tight, and you realistically can't break it without a 3' long pipe on the handle. If it had a USA stamp on it, and cost 5X as much, everyone here would love it. Since it doesn't, you're supposed to search for something that does say USA, is 30+ years old, costs 2-3X as much, has half the material UTS, is beat to ****.....

Whoops, missed that 😁 I'm sure it's more than enough for my purposes

I have been seeing the usual suspects leave behind made in USA vises pretty consistently at estate sales lately.

Last Thursday, I saw a nice vise for $10… and nobody even cared about it.

I get it, though. I don’t have room for another vise. The only vise that I am still looking for is a baby bullet.
