Work in plant setting where a lot of communication requires radios. Want to upgrade over what work provides...ideas?

Probably max is 1000 yds. Looking for reliability, battery life and volume.

i have two sets, one is motorola, the other is cobra brand.
very happy with both, no complaints at all. range on both says approx one mile, but i think that's stretchin it. One mile may be in an open field with a direct sight line, but both sets work well.

+1

In our plant we have repeaters that help with reception inside.

Motorola. Been using them for 20+ years professionally. Some of them held up to 15+ years of abuse and were still working. Only reason they were replaced was that we moved to a narrow-band system. Only way to go in a professional/industrial environment, IMO.

Motorola gets my vote also. I use mine for communicating with my ground crew. (Hotair balloon). I have the XU2600 (XTN Series). Never a problem. Unfortunately, Motorola has discontinued this series and I have lost one of the radios. On the up side there are still a bizzilion of them out there and I will find one on Ebay. If not then I will buy the upgrade that Motorola has come out with. The RDU RDV series 2080d which is conpatible with the XTN series.
