Best way to flush mount 4FT LED Strip?

First, thanks for the great community you have here. I learned a lot, and bought some LED fixtures for my basement based on the very long 'best light ever' thread.

I'd like to purchase and mount four (more) of the 4 FT Diva Light strips in my garage, and before I commit to balancing on a ladder, I wonder what advice you might have with regards to mounting them?

Currently, I have 4 standard porcelain lamp holders above the stalls in a 2 car garage. Under the lamp holder is a standard metal 4" octagon box (finished ceiling). I'd like to remove the lamp holder, route wiring into the new LED strip fixtures and flush mount them.

From what I see on the strips, the existing holes don't quite do the 16" on center pattern, so I might need to create a couple to secure them into the rafters.

Is there an easy way to secure the LED strip to the octagon box and then use some newly created holes to further attach the LED fixture into the rafters (through the finished ceiling)?

What might be the best way to do this?

Those look like regular 4' industrial type fixtures, not anything special for LEDs. Just remove the ballast cover and screw to whatever surface. Or drill holes where needed - unless the ballast is in the way - to mount to a 4" box. If you want to hit the joists, just use some 1 1/2" or so self tap screws and you won't need a drill. Just blow them through the base.

Thanks, we'll give it a try. My goal is to just make it a bit brighter in the garage for the occasional preventative maintenance. I stumbled upon some LED canopy lights too, that might be easier to install (<- 1 old guy on a 9ft ladder)
