Best way to get 24" deep toolbox?

I have a small shop and wall space is at a premium. The widest I could go is 55" or so. My theory is the deeper the better, if you're giving up the wall space for tool storage might as well get as much as you can for the wall space.

Seems like the only way to get 24" deep is truck toolboxes (SO, Matco, etc.). If you go 72" W them STB is an option.

Seems everybody else maxes out at 20" Deep which leaves an 18" or so deep drawer.

Any options for 24" Deep toolboxes I am missing?

I believe the HF 56" is 22" deep. Other than that, you're probably not going to find anything locally. You might be able to order an Extreme or Montezuma or something else imported.

And the extra depth is great. I have a 30" deep box, and I love it!

Yeah I saw the Listas and they are way out of my price range. I could certainly afford to purchase one but I can think of about 100 other things I would buy before spending 4k on a bottom box alone.

I do have a call in to the Snap On guy maybe I can get a line on a used one. Craigslist is full of junk in my area.

I'm attracted to the HF 56 but the drawer layout is geared toward fewer taller drawers but it is deeper than the STB offerings. Also not sure what you would do with the top storage. Even at 6'0" I would have to tiptoe to see much of what would be up there.

thats a dang nice box i couldn't buy that one and still get my welder, you won't be dissapointed with the extreme box couple pics of my 56' the drawer fronts are finished no weld marks

There were a good number of 20-25" deep, 36-52" long boxes made in the early to mid 90's by the truck brands. I'd try to look for one of those. I think kennedy and proto still make a ~25" deep box.

Thanks for all the info. I'll keep a lookout for a used truck box and look closer at the STB boxes.

It seems 24" deep is the tipping point between under $2k and over $2k boxes.

Thanks for the lead on that. That has good depth but unfortunately no matching top box. But a good option nonetheless for deep space with narrow width.

Yup. Gladiator is the only one w/ the 24" depth that get sold locally.

Keep in mind that Lista boxes are about 1/2 the price of a SO box brand new, but SO boxes to have their unique features. If you're to consider used SO box, I would compare it with Lista boxes before you commit. For a homeowner, I think modular cabinets like Lista is the way to go.

Why not go 30" deep? The snap on krl are 54 long and 28 deep. If you want a good box that is 24" deep just get on eBay or Craigslist and find a Snap on KRA for 1000-1500 used.

Ended up with the HF44 top and bottom box as it was the best bang for the buck and utilized the wall space I had.

I did get a price of $3700 for a 55" wide bottom box only from the SO truck but I have better ways to spend those dollars in the shop.

Around these parts you just don't see good used tool truck boxes come up for sale unless they are a package deal with a guy liquidating his tools also with the box.
