so ive been working on a painting project in the garage and got alot of overspray on the floor as a result of the plastic sheeting i used on the floor tearing and ripping mid-way through painting. So the floor is full of overpsray and the bottom of my shoes turn colors from picking up all the paint on the floor. Is there a simple way to pick it up of the concrete floor? I was thinking maybe a wrag full of paint thinner or gasoline taped to the end of a stick to make an improvised mop? SUggestions?

Gasoline really are you kidding ? lacquer thinner and you better do it soon, the longer it sits the harder it will be to remove ..Gasoline that is just stupid this is 2013 already.

I painted a frame in my garage about 20yrs ago and did the same thing.. I forget the name of it, but I got some kind of gel stripper from Lowes and it got it up quick, I did do it twice.. It did such a good job I just cleaned the entire floor with it...

It might have been Citristrip, seems like I remember it having a stout orange smell..

I got paint over spray on my floor. I think 3 months worth of normal wear and tear and it was gone.

how is it stupid if i already have some on hand, so i dont have to go anywhere or spend any money to buy something if it works and does the job?

By your logic, using old tools or driving old cars would be stupid too, since its 2013 and all... But hey... if thats what it takes to feel good about yourself, then why stop there...i must be even more stupid for even coming on this forum and asking such a stupid question...

If there's no kind of sealer or any of that fancy stuff on the floor and it's just bare concrete I've had a fair amount of luck just spreading some speedy dry on the stains and shuffling my feet back & forth to grind it in. Sweep it up and the stains will be gone.

The stuff you're picking up on your shoes is dry. Use a shop vac to pick up as much of that as possible before using a product that dilutes everything to turn it back into a liquid.

In my experience most overspray is partially dried before it hits the surface, therefore not very well adhered. I've successfully used a power washer to remove it, also simple green and a scrub brush.

I've had good luck removing "light" overspray with Simple Green. I let it soak for a few minutes before scrubbing with a brush or rag.

I just did this a few weeks ago. Had to remove a bunch of overspray over pretty much the entire floor. Used an orbital polisher and a floor scrubbing pad along with Super Clean degreaser (also was removing some oil stains). Came out cleaner then when we moved in.

Upper section is clean, lower is not.

Used one of these cut down to 6" diameter to fit my polisher:

I bought a can of graffiti remover from Ace Hardware....sprayed it on and hit with a wire brush....came off no problem...

Be glad it's not automotive single stage paint on epoxy - that's a grind off and re-do. Been there - shadow of the car is still on that floor unless the new owner fixed it.
