Best way to remove paint from concrete

My garage floor is painted (two coats of different paint-I think) and was not prepped prior to painting. I don't know what kind of paint was used but it scratches easily. However when I try to grind it off I wind up with a gooey mess.

If anyone has a good idea as to how to get this stuff off, please let me know. I intend to put VCT down after I get the paint off. I would love to just put the VCT down on top of the paint but I think the tiles would probably come up.

I too was going to say the same thing. My washer is ~2600PSI and I have (accidentally) gouged concrete with it. Now I have never tried it for this application so I really don't know.

Hot water pressure washer (180 degrees or hotter) works wonders, the heat makes a real big difference, cold water will work, but its slower than Id care to do it. Ive got the heat turned up on mine, its almost a steam washer, its literally boiling as it comes out. It will carve paint off anything, including factory finishes on cars and trucks.

Not to hijack the thread as I am also interested in the best way to remove paint from the floor that is the least backbreaking stressful type. I need to do this on my house garage floor.

Without a dough preasure washer start out light and if you have to go up in nozles

or hotwater would be good if you can get one of those to

That's good to know because I was planning on taking a lot of old paint off of my garage floor too with my pressure washer but I didn't realize I could damage it like that. Now I know to be careful! Thanks!
