Never used that type, I've always used a battery terminal puller if I couldn't remove them by hand. Cheap and works well.

Thanks.
I found that one:

Plus Lisle makes this one too:

I don't understand how they would work on a wiper arm. The wiper arm completely covers the top of the wiper shaft. You can't screw it down like you can a batter terminal.

There are several ways wiper arms are attached and each uses a different type tool. The one posted by the OP in his first post is for the older style that has a clip at the bottom that needs to be pressed while the arm is removed. The battery terminal puller works on the newer style that is retained by a nut on top of the arm. The right tool will be determined by how the arm is retained.

A battery cable puller often does not have enough reach. They make universal windshield wiper arm pullers.

I took a picture of my Snap-on battery cable puller on a wiper arm. Note that the forcing screw is fully retracted and the puller arms are not long enough to get under the wiper arm.

ive used a full size two jaw puller, a wrench and pry bar
usually they come off by hand; its just a matter of releasing the lock(be it a nut or a piece of the arm that has to slide back

Correct. These things can get stuck on pretty tight. You have to release the clip and they get scratched or damaged very easy.

I have a funky screwdriver/ awl thingy I have used for years to get that style wiper arms off. It has worked well for me. As for other styles I haven't needed any real tools to remove them. Some you can put a piece of stiff wire or small drill bit between a hole, others have a clip you raise, then some all you have to do is remove a bolt and GENTLY wiggle the arm off.

It's hard to tell from the photo how that works. Have you used one on my type of wiper?

It's for your type of wiper. It reaches around and hooks the edge away from the hinge. then you work the tool and the arm up and down and wiggle the socket off of the stud. Usually, when you try to remove the arm you can't get even force and the socket binds, the tool evens the force.

Thanks! I'll get one of those.

It works better if you remove the nut! :lol_hitti
