Best WORK shop floor surface?

Working on a 1000 sq ft workshop at my dad's place. It's coming out really cool - all the bells and whistles - except a floor. I'm trying to convince him it will be the finishing touch, but he is reluctant as this is a workshop -not a garage. Welding, grinding, cutting, engine hoists, jacks, etc. I did a 1250 sq ft epoxy floor at my brothers last year using Rust-Oleum industrial epoxy (not DIY materials). We ground floor first using industrial grinder and it came out pretty good for my first floor (except that first handful of chips- you really need to toss them high in air!). He is NOT using it as a workshop and has noticed chipping when something is dropped on it - and it is slick despite using gator grip or shark's tooth abrasive in top coat.

Would like input on recommendations for floor. It's 3 separate pours (one is 30+ years old, other 2 were last year). No racedeck or similar plastic systems and no vinyl tile please.

I stained my concrete then clear coated it. It takes alot of abuse. After five years I applied another coat of clear. More durable than epoxy.

[Garage Flooring]

There are lots of options. You could do a full broadcast epoxy system which is GARAGE for keep throwing flakes on the floor until they don't stick or a color quartz system. In either case a couple of good layers of urethane. Talk to Scotty.

Or you could do garage floor tiles or mats... Tiles hold up to a ton of abuse. Our premium PVC tiles have been installed in industrial settings with a lot more abuse than any shop. The Premium Ultra Flat tiles are also a good choice.

thanks for replies - I have heard that staining 3 different pours will yield 3 different looks - is this true?

I am not familiar with pvc - can you provide more details? links please? who is scotty? I am familiar with full broadcast - my brothers floor was not - it was a toss chips in air for that speckled look. Is a full broadcast more durable?

What finish is easiest to spot repair if I do damage it?

I am Scotty.
Full chip is more durable than partial. The chips, vinyl, add another layer of material to the flooring system and are less light sensitive than epoxy. Thus a full layer of chip will look better longer.

Top them off with urethane or polyaspartic urethane and you have a great system.
Top them off with epoxy and you foil the whole purpose of the chips as the epoxy (truely amber) will yellow over time and make the chips look drab and old.

In regards to staining, there may be a slight difference as every batch is composed a bit different.

that thick grey floor paint (epoxy?) oil wipes right off, and you can see parts that fell.
