Personally I happen to like proto for wrenches and built up a pretty good set when I was younger. If I needed of wrenches now I would probably just buy one of the dewalt sets and call it good.

As far as the op Snap-on if you like American status symbols. Stahlwhile if you like German status symbols. Koken if you like Japanese status symbols. Facom if you like French status symbols. Beta if you like Italian status symbols. Otherwise it probably doesn't matter if you buy your wrenches at Wal-Mart or from a tool boutique as an occasional user will have more issues due to operator error than tool limits.
