Italy was also my first thought, but I know that some of their products are rebranded. Where did you get this info?

It was my impression they are not made in Italy. Monte will know. I am pretty sure he confirmed it was Taiwan.

I don´t know :)
Some IMPACT sockets look like they´re from Koken. Some Ratchets are from Koken. Hand sockets i don´t know. The last time i saw Beta tools is like 2 years ago. IIRC most or all tools didn´t say "Italy". The best is to mail Beta in Italy (They should know :) ) or contact Beta in the US because they MUST put the COO on the tools or package. So they should know too.

some of their sockets have rounded corners on the square drive end (1/4, 3/8, 1/2)
That usually is a dead giveaway for Asian made.

I don't know, but I ordered one to check out, and the finish was marvelous.

I don't think they're marked with COO, can check tomorrow.

I found the local Beta distributor in Qatar this weekend. They had a pretty decent selection in stock, I bought a RHFT quick-release ratchet, and fondled lots of other stuff. None of their tools had any country inscribed on them, pliers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers. . .

The salesman also gave me a 2010 Beta Tools complete catalog. From the first page:
Quote - Beta Utensili relies on three Italian-based factories. . . Unquote, then goes on to name the factories and 550 staff. Seems like at least some of the stuff is still made in Italy.

Overall seemed like really nice, quality tools. I'm used to the German style matte finish over here, but these Beta sockets and wrenches have incredible chrome, really nice mirror finish.

I have the whole catalog, so if you need any info on anything, part No. let me know

Thanks dmessin. If a line reads that the company is based in Italy, then it means it is definately not made there. I think I might anyway get some of the 1/2" dr 6pt deep sockets for use as spark plug sockets as beta carries a lifetime warranty.

I cant speak about their sockets as most of mine are SO, but most of my metric wrenches are Beta and they are very good. I have a set (6mm to 21mm) of both standard and long series combination wrenches and I would highly recommend them.

In the UK I buy from www.motogf.co.uk and they have quite a good website for the most common items. My next purchase will be a set of these, I have had good feedback from others about them.

I also have a couple of sets of Beta screwdrivers and they are good also. I quite like the tool trays (see here). You can buy sets of tools in trays or you can also buy the trays separately.

The full Beta catalogue is here.

Hi Monte, I have not gotten a email back from Beta. I will send a email to Procare in the US tomorrow. Maybe they will get back to me.

I guess my Italian was not that good!

Looking through my Beta stuff I could only find that my metric nut drivers say "Italy" on them, weather thats "made in" or where the head office is is a mystery to me.

My sockets, torque wrench and other tools say nothing

good luck getting any follow-through w/ procare... imo the co. *****. never got a response in 3 years of trying to contact them, never had the phone answered, never had an order filled (faxed & emailed)... I don't even know why they have their website up, it's from 2006-07 w/ no updates.

Quick intro - we're a distributor for Beta Tools in the UK. motoGF is an offshoot of Grampian Fasteners which deals mostly with engineering companies in the offshore oil & gas sector.

If you have any questions about Beta we'll try our best to answer them for you.

Anybody know where they are made? Some old posts indicate that they might even be supplied by koken.

Beta do make most of their tools themselves in their 3 fractories in Italy. I've visited 2 of the factories and seen the production. One of the first process I saw was the spanners (wrenches) being laser cut from sheet steel and then finished be a few robotic arms. Very impressive I have to say. This helps retain the strength of the steel rather than forging.

Beta have a fairly large range and as a result they don't make everything themselves. However they do value the quality of their product and they work very closely with the companies that do manufacture on their behalf.

If there's anything specific that you're interested in then just reply and I'll see what I can find out.

In the UK I buy from www.motogf.co.uk

Flange - thanks for the compliment. We're looking to make a lot of improvements to the site in the new year.

I'm not sure exactly what's happening with Procare but there may be some changes in the new year. If you have any specific enquiries for the US I can pass them on to one of my contacts. Otherwise you can contact us and we can try and work something out. We do ship internationally even though our website states that we don't - it's a payment processing issue.

First post - done. Just followed a link to this site from our webstats. It looks very interesting and hopefully we can be of some help.

MotoGF - so you can ship to the US? I have tried to purchase from the US distributor www.procarestores.com and have yet to receive a phone call or email back (and this was a fairly large order). They are completely unresponsive. Please advise.

Yes I know it's an old thread but I've only just seen it....
Do Ko-ken manufacture for BETA the simple answer is yes.

Most of the 1/4" drive sockets & bit sockets, all of the Aerspace range, quite a few of the special sockets, hex bit sockets, E sockets & they used to manufacture all the impact range but now I believe they buy them from another Asian country!!
If you look at the BETA 920M/56 it's the same as the Ko-ken 4774P
Also......BETA 920M/55 as the Ko-ken 4753P
............BETA 910M/55 as the Ko-ken 3753P

These are just a few from memory but there are quite a lot......if you start to look in catalogues
