The PR of China has a capitalist economy, but is still a totalitarian, repressive regime. Communism as economic engine is a complete failure. The PRC has morphed into a strange beast, that is for sure.

Procare in Huntinton beach is very much alive,spoke to the boss (Chuck) yesterday and he tells me that their new website http://betatoolusa.com is almost re constructed and that they are certtainly not quitting,and have adventurous plans to expand in the USA.certainly my contacts in the UK and Italy tell me he has the full backing of the parent company in Milan.

Man, I step away from this board for a while, and Crafty is no longer US made? Even the hardline of tools?

Not really. I think you and I stepped away around the same time. Honestly, in the last year or so, it doesn't seem like a bunch more stuff than already was is being Chinese-made, but the writing on the wall doesn't look good for certain products.

The main "hardline" (ratchets, sockets, raised-panel wrenches, blue/clear or blue/red screwdrivers, etc.) is all US-made still.
