Transporter was just on TV, and I spotted Statham reaching for tools from a BETA cabinet.

Which reminds me, has anyone found an online US distributor for BETA tools? There seems to be a west coast brick & mortar distributor, but I cannot seem to find anyplace that will permit online browsing and ordering.

Maybe, but I typically prefer new tools, and shopping via retail stores; I'm not a fan of ebay. Nice find though, I might check back on ebay periodically.

I did check them out, but there is no clear "store" part to their site. I read a few accounts on GJ and elsewhere complaining that that shop wasn't too responsive, either.

Yup, I emailed and even called this procare place, zilch on response. I guess they only sell to millionaires since they are down near LaLa land and hollywood.

I wanted to buy 3 ratchets and had a question, emailed, called, nothing.

I only deal with companies that care. So Pro, you seem not to care. :lol_hitti

I never seen Transporter. Which box was featured in the movie?

Man, I would kill to have a Beta box. By that, I mean, if I met a guy that had a Beta box, I would murder him and take his box:evil:

LOL and I'm sure a Beta box would have enough storage capacity to roll the evidence away

It looked like a wall cabinet of some kind. Statham's character reached towards a cabinet to get a tool, and I was like, why is there a logo of a crowsfoot on that cabinet. He took a tool, and then proceeded to do something, and I proceeded with my photo editing for the PB Swiss Insider review.

Then I realized, THAT WAS A BETA BOX. I kept that bottled up until I was about to go to bed, and then posted about it here. =)

I don't even recall if the cabinet was even orange. And he reached up the tool, not down. Dang, now I have to wait for it again just to see the suspected BETA box. =) Great movie btw.

I purchased a Beta work bench like this one at Home Depot. It was a close out and I paid about $1000 for it. Don't remember them having any Beta hand tools.

beta stuff at home depot?? When was this?

$1000 is too steep for me.

The white backboard looks like it has a lock on the bottom. What's behind it?

Best guess it was five years ago. The back is a hutch about 6-7 inches deep. The white door rolls up and there is metal peg board and hooks. What I really like is the laminate table top. It is some sort of plastic/wood laminate. Very tough and chemical resistant.

Hmm, so it was license plates and not tools! I don't recall seeing the "BETA" wording, though.

Oh wells, good job with the photo find!

Those are license plates.
Edit: Photo is from my own dvd run on my 22" LCD so not the sharpest pic.

Have a nice day. :)

haha, yea. Beta tools were first carried by Small Parts/Amazon in March 2009, 2 months after I started this thread.

I'm really hoping that Amazon's buyers start carrying even more European brands. *crosses fingers*.

Gonna shoot for a full Beta box full of tools for $0.00? :bounce:

I wish!

But in all seriousness, I'm a little disappointed with Beta quality. I expected more for the money. I ordered 3 sliding T wrenches at their full price. One (1/4") was rough sliding, with an unfinished hex tip. I returned it. The replacement was also very rough sliding, and the tip, while mostly finished, still had rough marks and an unidentifiable black stripe.

Down the road, I can see the chrome a the high frictions pot rubbing or chipping away. I know that not every tool will be perfect, but my experience with that tool has marred my impression of them. And I don't understand why the tips of their punches appear to be rough ground.

But their screwdrivers and tool cabinet are very, very nice. =)

This an old post but wanted to add that I saw the new C27S tool trolley and decided it is perfect for my small motorcycle trailer. Sells for about $700 here in the US, but was on sale in the UK for $395. Even with shipping, I still saved almost $150. Also bought some of the T handle metric hex wrenches. Bottom line, when you are looking for foreign made products, check overseas, as the strong dollar may offset the shipping costs.
