Wife proceeded to swing the hose onto the hot exhaust of the pressure washer...bye bye hose.

Who makes a more durable, high quality pressure washer hose? I believe my old one is 1/4" with a M22 connection.

I recently upgraded to a heavy duty rubber hose at Northern Tool. WAY better than the brittle small 1/4" stuff. Its like a thick heavy duty air hose. Cost a bit, I believe it was $80 or so, no more tangles and rolls up nice

Just be glad you don't have to buy a replacement hose for my washer........You would cry tears big as horse turds. Few years ago, I was told it was around $800. It also is bundled with the control wiring, as the unit can be remotely controlled from the wand. Bit of overkill, but I got it so cheap I could not refuse.

The blue Goodyear HP hose is very good, I run it on my 4.0GPM 4,000PSI washer, It has no memory and is flexible, You gotta watch about changing the 1/4" hose on a home washer due to a pressure loss if you go to a bigger hose on them, they make a lot of the pressure by using a small hose

Isn't the tip the smallest restriction? A bigger hose will have more volume put how does a bigger hose change the pressure available to the tip?

Bigger hose has less flowing pressure drop = more pressure available at the tip. Not the other way around.

Yes the tip does create the Orifice for a pressure increase, But when the hose is changed the little home pumps can not pump enough at the rate needed to get that pressure if that makes sense, most of those washers say like 2.0-2.8 GPM Max, under normal operating they will not flow what they are rated at, I have seen it in person, we had a small washer like that at work and took the 1/4x25' hose off and put on a 3/8" 50ft hose and it could not do half as much as it could

I'm curious jon, what is a home washer ?

I'm wondering if a say $400-$500 washer typically falls in this class ?

I call a home washer one that is Direct drive, 6.5HP or less Gas engine ,sold at Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Nothing worng with them, I have a Troybilt that I got at lowes a few years ago and it is handy, And most of these Pressure washers the Pump is only good for about 100hrs, That is usually what they are rated for,

But a Belt Driven Washer, Either on a Skid with Wheels, Permanent Mounted, or Trailer Mounted, There is a Big difference, Your cleaning power comes from GPM, The more water you can wash the contaminants from the surface with the better you will clean

For example a 5.0GPM @2,000psi Washer will outclean a 3.0GPM 3,000psi, I am talking from my real world experience using washers to clean trucks before I work on them,

This is what I have. You can obviously see the difference from the homeowner models. 18 hp twin cylinder Briggs, electric start, electric remote clutch, remote chemical feeds from the wand. Retailed for around $5,000, I paid $250 for it.

Up here in Canada we couldn't find any decent ones in big box stores. I did plenty of research online and they all turned out to be garbage. Goodyear hoses are great if you can find them. Otherwise make a stop at your local hydraulics store and have them make you a hose.
