I have only used these in assembly and dissassembly of engines....they turn quick for the studs and such..

I like the grunt and testosterone of the breaker bar

I have that exact bar. I bent it good when I used it with a breaker bar to remove my lug nuts, installed at local shop with an air wrench. Poor quality. My local Sears said they could not replace it because they do not carry it. I ordered it on line. They told me I would have to mail it. Bogus.

That is laziness...they have to take it back if its a craftsmen no questions asked...with or without a receipt

These are way more heavy duty than a breaker bar, because its not just a dink pin holding the head on, the handle goes right through the body. Check it out. This is one tool you can def. put a pipe on the end and not worry about breaking.
I disagree. The pin on a breaker bar is just a pivot point. It's the arms surrounding the head that gives it it's strength. Breaker bars are generally longer - in the 1/2 inch drive, for Craftsman, breaker bars come in 15" and 18" (24" in other brands). Slide bars from Craftsman for the same drive come in only 9" and 15". I would think the weak point on a slide bar would be the socket head shearing off like a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter would.

Thats what I thought too, until I saw a kid stick a 3-4 ft pipe on the end to get off a lug that the impact couldnt get off... Not the thunder gun, a 231c or something like that. i was totaly amazed at the strength.

I have one of those for my 3/4 inch sockets. It's a JET brand. I use it mostly for removing axle nuts. It feels allot more secure than a breaker bar. But I find a breaker bar to be more versatile for most spots.

I bet my gun would take it right off :D Man i LOVE that gun

Also I'd like to point out that these are probably weaker than breaker bars. To break a breaker bar, you would have to apply enough torque to split the Y as well as shear the pin. Not easy to do. The problem with t-bars is that the sliding part, the rod, is much thinner than the shaft of a breaker bar. So while the head might not break, the rod can bend. Especially if it's not a high quality tool.

yeah Ive got the IR thunder gun... 650ftlbs but this was at autoshop and the compressor wasnt on and it takes a long time for that beast to pump up so we did it the old fashioned way. Still, I like these things... Like dink said, you can spin nuts and bolts off fast with them too

Back to the sliding T

Their main application is not for use with a cheater bar. IMHO Cheater bars break stuff and when things break bad thing happen.

Their main application is when you want pure torque. That is: no horizontal reaction. You know from your big grease covered hand pulling on the cheater bar.

They are really just a tap wrench with a male drive. They are intended for use with two hands one on each side.
