It's been 60 days since my new garage floor was poured. I've done research on floor coatings since the pour but I'm still not sure what to do. I've read the posts on POR15 and Industrial Rustoleum but I also found companies that coat the floors with a polymer or ceramic based formula. Companies like Toughfloors.com, Floorguard.com, Premiergarage.com. I haven't seen many discussions on this fourm about those floor coatings so I'm wondering what a few of you think about them. I want to do this once, and be done with it.

I think a lot will have to do with your budget. Poured coatings are a lot more expensive and are not usually do it yourself type products. A guy at work had his poured and it looks awsome, but it was $3500 for a standard 3 car garage. Way out of my budget, but it may not be out of yours.

Most epoxy coatings will run between $500 & $1000 for materials for the same area, and add labor if you don't want to do it yourself.

I bet those floors cost $5-$7 per square foot professionally installed. I was quoted a discounted price of $5.25 per foot for www.flexmarcoatings.com a month ago (usual retail price $7.00 per foot). I went with POR 15 for a huge cost savings but an equal quality garage floor. Plus, I knew POR 15 could be trusted to deliver a high qualty product without cutting corners. I still paid a little more than $2.00 per square foot for my floor and I provided all the labor.

I would be carfeul about WARRANTIES on these floors as companies come and go. How do you know in 5 years your EXPENSIVE garage floor will really have a warranty worth anything? With POR 15 you self-insure and fix the floor yourself for a few hundred bucks down the road if needed.
