Better than the CT761?

Looking to buy a small 3/8 impact tool and the CT761 looks awesome. Great form factor and great power. Before I invest in one, is there any talks of a new version coming out? Anything similar that's better? I see brushless is the standard for higher end tools and the CT s lacking here.

No, I have no automotive electric tools. I have some x4 rigid home tools, but I do not like the luck I've had with their batteries.

Looking for something for light under the hood to exhaust work.

I have both the ct761 and the m12. They're both great but the SO is damn powerful for how small it is. Also I ADORE the trigger. Great control and will make you wish every drill/impact had a rocker trigger. Its not meant for it but I've used it on lugs plenty of times with no issues. Its close to 160 ft/lbs. Which isn't the best out there but for the side there's no comparison. I'm a huge Milwaukee fanboy but I bought the snap on before I got into the m18/m12 line. I have a couple of the 14.4v SO tools and they're all great and all worth the money. The 18V stuff is **** in my opinion. They're ok tools but soooo expensive and not worth it and there's much better options with higher quality for lower price.

The 14.4v sander polisher is awesome, and the cordless ratchets are the best I've found, better than the current n12 offerings.

I guess it depends on what other tools you want eventually or if you're ok with buying into 2 different battery systems. If you just want a compact impact for medium to light stuff and maybe a ratchet, drill, or some lighting options then the SO is great. If you think you'd eventually like to get some saws, grease guns, multitool, etc then m12 may be the path to go. M12 is affordable as well but the 14.4v SO isn't terribly overpriced and it's built very solidly. Good luck, hope this helps.

Thanks for the insight! yeah I'll go with the snap on I think. I do love the rocker switch. I had the 7.2 bit driver from snapon for about 11 years before the batteries crapped out, and I loved it when it was working. I dont need a ton of electric tools, was just looking at the ratchet and 3/8 micro impact anyways for light work. Thanks for the great reply.

The rocker switch alone is worth it, it's my go to in the service truck.

I have the screwgun in pink lol wife bought it and I like it and I have the 7.2v 1/4 impact and love that thing I've also had 3 of the 7.2v screwguns and they were okay. I prefer to use my Makita 18v impact driver with 3/8 & 1/4 square drive bits and it's by far the best I have and I have to take it easy as it will snap screws and small bolts it's a beast and nice and compact.

The Milwaukee may be cheaper, but it is larger. The Snap on 14.4 3/8" impact is easily one of my most favorite tools.

It looks like the snappy is the way to go. Luckily as we type, the snappy convention is happening. If anything new is coming out, ill know in a few days. Worth waiting a coupme of days to find out!

As a full time tech , I literally do not know how I lived without my CT761. The Milwaukee line is great too , but the snap on 3/8 is just such a great tool. Its power , ergonomics, and battery life is A+. Yeah its not brushless and maybe snap on will put out one soon, that doesnt stop the ct761 from doing an amazing job. Its siblings in the 14.4 line are awesome too, the ratchets are my go to know. I highly suggest the investment.
