We have one here at work we don't use and have not used since the 1980's. It's pretty old from the 30's or 40's I'd like to make an offer on it but don't know how much to pay. It does have a nick in the blade other than that it works just fine. Any ideas?

From what i have seen those things easily go for 300-400 used.

Offer them 100 and see what happens. Obviously they have no use for it. Don't forget to point out that nicked blade iirc blades are 150 but i could be mistaken.

Why don't you save your money, and just use the Beverly at work?

Working on personal projects is frowned on and also I'm usually in need of something like this when I'm at home 20 min. away.

Now that my kids are grown I'm picking up where I left off 25 years ago and am adding tools to my shop that will allow me to work on my 2 old cars & my pickup truck. I have sheet metal work in my very near future....;)

BTW we have a newer Beverly bolted to a bench and guess what? It's all fudged up by someone cutting nails, drill bits who knows what :( The one I'm looking at buying has been sitting on a shelf for decades.

It should say "Chicago" on the tag. I have seen some later ones made abroad.

theknurl - You did VERY well at that price. I used one like that years ago and they are much nicer than the Eastwood type.

Try cutting something before buying any blades and see if the knicks cause any problems.

I sharpened one on my 6x48 belt sander. You just need a gentle touch, and want to match the curve and relief angle. There are bolts or set screws that allow you to set the proper blade gap when you clamp them back in (look this up, and do it with a feeler gauge).

Or if the knicks aren't that bad, you can try to steel them back, or stone them down.

wish I could find one.

Hey guys, first post here. I was in such a rush to register here after finding this place looking for info for my Beverly B-2A. I ended up spelling my username wrong.... It's supposed to be BleedingOrange36
Just wanted to let you know I have this for sale. I'm currently in the process of refurbishing it..... Well stripped old paint off and wire wheeled to check the metal out for stress cracks. Shear checked out great and will be getting painted tommorow. The blades cut beautifully but have a knick on them that hasn't affected any of my cuts...
I had no idea what I had.... I almost gave this away with my lakeland model 848 tubing bender I just sold. Also just sold my Parker 232b power flarer.... I think I sold myself short on both though...
I will be putting pics up of the B-2A tommorow after it gets reassembled.
I figured I would give you first shot at it before it goes on the classifieds and Craigslist.
The shear also comes with its own stand.
The only problem is I see you are in MI and I am In NJ.

Have a B1 and a B2. I thought mine were a good price. You ****. If you talk to anybody that also makes medieval armor ( say for the SCA) They will pay a lot more for a Beverly...

I finally got to use this shear today and it was a bit odd at first but with a practice it was just fine. I do have a question though. What should the gap between the knives be(
