I picked up a nice clean low mileage Beverly B1 Shear today. I tried it out on a piece of light (20 ga.?) sheet and it cuts easily and cleanly on both straight and curved cuts. My arsenal of sheet metal cutting tools includes an assortment of a half dozen hand shears and a monster Marshalltown 10P powered rotary throatless shear capable of cutting up to 10 gauge material. I haven't used the Marshalltown much in the 30 years I've owned it, and never on anything heavier than 16 gauge mild steel. The Beverly will do up to 14 gauge and is all I will ever really need so I am thinking that I ought to sell the Marshalltown and keep the Beverly. I have not seen a Marshalltown as big as mine; I've seen 12 gauge models advertised for $800 - $1200, but I am really thinking that $600 is enough.
