Here's a picture of mine post-modification.

Without the mod, they both hang low. This way, there is free space below.
If I knew how, I would fab different arms for holding the bikes. They hang out farther from the wall than necessary.

No way! I bought one of these pulley hoist systems and made a couple of changes. I removed the hooks and got three large o rings from work, 12inches across and 5/16 thick. I loop two of them under the front brifters and one around the seat. There is no way the bike can fall off plus when I cover the bike with a sheet to keep dust off it the o rings hold it on so it wont get blown off.

The old adage is true that you get what you pay for but the 50lb capacity is more like 40. Off to the hardware store to look at different options for hooks and a stronger rope and maybe turn it into a frankenrack.

Thanks for the info on the Harbor Freight rolling rack. Got one and put it together a couple days ago. Powder coat was ok, a couple bolt holes didn't line up, missing a few washers, one nut had no thread at all but looks like it will do the job.

Well, I gave up on hanging the tandem from the ceiling and it now has floor status. My combo ski rack/bike rack came out ok though. It can hold 7 bikes and 16 pairs of skis, all off the floor so I can sweep underneath.

Thanks, the IBIS is wife's Mojo. You can't see it but I restored my vintage 1991 Bridgestone MB1. That's going to go on the wall. It's too painful to ride even as a commuter so I don't ride it anymore. And for the life of me I can't figure out how I ever did.
