I have over 40 bikes scattered all over the place. This is my latest free standing rack. My requirements were that the rack had to be portable, could not be attached to the wall or ceiling, had to fit through any doorway to be easily moved, and keep all bicycle contact points away from the walls.
I have this stand in the living room of a duplex I recently bought (I am restoring one side of the 1934 duplex, and using the other side as a bicycle workshop, this rack is on the workshop side). My plan is to build at least half a dozen of these racks, and move them around as I work on the rehab. Some of the racks will be larger, holding six bikes or more.
My last project on the duplex is to build an attached workshop. At that point, the free standing bike racks will move to the shop.
I am using whatever scrap lumber I have available.
