install sram or kmc quicklinks on all of your chains, it'll make PM much more convenient.

check out park tools repair help website, which is pretty helpful as far as step-by-step advice. "standards" in the bicycle industry have changed quite a bit. review how your crank puller works, how a threadless headset is set up, shifter/FD-RD adjustment.

be careful muscle-beaching threaded steel tools into aluminum component threads. correct initial threading by hand, as well as grease, are essential.

there will be some LH threaded stuff on your bike (pedals, BB, and some internal hub components come to mind). again, careful with the muscle beaching.

down the road, a DAG-1 from park is hard to beat. it checks the alignment of the rear derailleur hanger. if your RD hanger is tweaked, your shifting will never be spot on with cable tension adjustments. RD hanger alignment is tough to eyeball, btw.

Get the one with the built in handle. I worked as a bike mechanic for 10 years and they are soooo much nicer to use. I own the blue one for square taper and the black one for spline drive.

the handle gets in the way. i prefer no handle and using a socket or ratchet wrench
