My wife read some of the posts on here and said "you guys are like the garage version of the Big Bang Theory", garage nerds. If you watch the sitcom, this will make sense.

The Big Bang Theory

When that show first started I thought it was one of the stupidest shows on TV. Well I must have dumbed myself down because it is a must see every week. Just about one of the funniest shows on TV I think. :spit:

Yep, I'm a fan of the show and this site.

I remember hearing someone say many years ago that almost everyone is a nerd about something. Whether it's classical music, physics, baseball, coin collecting, hotrods, movies or ... Just fill in the blank. Nerds will seek out people with similiar interests (like this site) and examine the finest of details...

I are a garage nerd.
I are a classic car nerd.
I have been a golf nerd.
I have been a electric guitar nerd.
I have been a movie nerd.

Then they all start looking around for themselves LMFAO!

Never seen the show, but I've heard that they have some genuine nerds on the writing staff, so good quality "inside" geek jokes make it on the air.

Well done, I say.

Definitely one of the few shows that I make a point to watch these days.

And Kevin54- I agree 100% with your summary, I used to see promos for the show and think there was no way it could be worth watching. Somehow I started watching it probably a year ago and I LOVE that show.

I loved that part too!! One of many things that makes me relate to that show (e.g. I'm an IT Manager, so Geek is in my blood), is that my friend and I did nearly the EXACT same thing about 20 years ago after watching "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" - we agreed if either of us were to either build or get our hands on a time machine (we're not above stealing one knowing we could always return it before we took it-heh, fun dealing with time) we would make a couple new Babe Ruth rookie cards appear in the mailbox that day -- sadly no cards appeared so either we die trying to get them (unlikely) or we don't ever get a time machine -- really bummed us both out!

Great show though!

My favorites...
Sheldon: A fear of heights is illogical. A fear of falling, on the other hand, is prudent and evolutionary...

Sheldon: "I believe the appropriate metaphor here involves a river of excrement and a Native American water vessel without any means of propulsion."

The friendship algorithm scene.

Sheldon: Why do you have the Chinese character for 'soup' tattooed on your right buttock?
Penny: It's not 'soup'; it's 'courage'.
Sheldon: No it isn't. But I suppose it does take courage to demonstrate that kind of commitment to soup.
Penny: How'd you see it? You said you wouldn't look.
Sheldon: Sorry. As I told you, the hero always peeks.

When that show comes on, my wife leaves the room, so I can then change the channel. Most obnoxious laugh track ever.

Well done, I say.

I was a faithful BattleStar Gallactica viewer and the Big Bang Show references that show frequently and the Chuck show did the same thing when the Hot Blond wore a "Frack Me" t-shirt, when she went nerd hunting.

Before that, I never realized Battlestar viewers were the definition of Nerds!

My favorite show on television at the moment, I love it. The wife, not so much. She doesn't get enough of the references, and the science content goes right over her head.

American Pickers is god-awful. It's so contrived and the main guy is a massive dbag. He tried to endear himself to Alabama after he had just used every stereotype in the book to describe it. Great idea, poor execution ... just like American Choppers, American Hot Rod and just about every other reality show.

And just another show that'll raise the prices of useful stuff for the rest of us. Some of it is OK, most of it is a joke.
