We have an annual community auction tomorrow, a benifit for our local volunteer fire department. It going to be the 48th eddition. It's been billed as a country fair now for the last decade or so.

We took our auction eve tour of the items to go for bid earlier today. The stuff is brought in by hundreds of people cleaning out their garages and everything under the sun shows up, enought to cover a soccer field in rows of junk. Two boxes made my list of watch items, a box of rusty tools that turned out to be all Duro Chrome, SK, and SO that had been in rusty water at some point. I'm hoping those boxes go cheap because of the looks of them. The other items I saw in a decent Kennedy box set were two old SO ratchets, one a F71 and the other a long handled ratchet marked with an "E" date code.

What is a long SO war era ratchet worth in poor condition? I'll have to buy the entire lot in each case to get what I want. I hope to use most of the tools if I get them, not resell them, so cheap is a must. If I don't get the bid I could try to buy just the ratchets from the high bidder.

The auction went alright today, saved more money by not being a winner. The first wonder boxes of the day went too high for me, SK sockets or no. The Kennedy box I was after attracted the attention of every tool ***** at the sale. When it came on the block the auctioneer decides to sell it by the drawer. Long story short, all I had to buy was the Snappy ratchet and the coffee can of sockets they threw in with it. The can had eight MAC six point sockets, sized 1 1/16 to 1 9/16 as well as a bunch of PowerKraft, Husky USA, and Thorsen sockets. Total outlay, 22.50. Pics coming tonight.

Sadly, the ratchet handle has a slight bend near the head. Not huge as I don't intend to use it that often.

Looks like you did good.
That's one of my pet peeves, when the auctioneer decides to part out a lot we all waited to bid on.

Have to remember the auctioneers job is to get as much for the seller as he can. If he was selling your stuff you would want him to get all he can.

To the op. Great buy. You ****!!!

Pretty easy to straighten that handle if you have a press. A friend gave me a long Snap On 1/2" drive breaker bar that someone must have put a cheater on, and bent the handle worse than that, a few minutes on the press, good as new.
Good score, Jim
