My pole building shop is 42 by 48 with 15 foot ceilings. It gets hot and I'm looking for a fan to blow some air to provide some cooling. The gymnastics place my daughter attends has a Big *** Fan that moves a lot of air so I've been looking at that brand. I just saw that lowes.com, amazon, and tractor supply sell a Big *** Fan 3600. Does anybody have any experience with these? The Big *** Fan company says they are a stripped down version of their essence fan.

Since BAF came out with them, tons of other companies create similar product. Look into HVLS fans for comparison and reviews.

7' BAF for $2599 or 8' Hunter for $899? I think I know what I would do.

This right here..

I guess if money is no object then the baf is probably higher quality, but they are really proud of their fans. I've been looking at smart fans and they make what seems to be the best one there too.

I would buy a lower cost alternative to the BAF, unless money is no object. In that case, it would be cool to brag about having a BAF.

The problem with any BAF type is the very large swept area.
Things just get in the way.

I would go with a collection of standard family room fans.

I recently installed one of their Haiku fans (Big *** Fan's residential branch) in my living room and the thing is seriously high quality. Certainly not cheap though. I just like that it works so seamlessly with my smart thermostat and it's extremely quiet.

I happen to be cheap. I also happen to have a similar sized building (30x50x12-17 free span to peak). I faced a similar issue as well. I went with this:

I did not expect much from the reviews- but the main complaint seemed to be the 1982 vintage appearance of the controller. I could care less. After more than a year, it continues to impress. 5 speeds, no drama. Pretty quiet, move LOTS of air. You could do a few of them and still be dollars ahead, and control would be much better. Obviously not HVLS, but a bargain none the less. I may add another someday, but one does my space quite well. Just another option.
