Although a 3 car or greater size garage would have been great where I live I am limited to a sqaure footage determined by the setback of the house and lot size etc. The biggest I could go was 24x24. I ended up with a 24x24 with 9' ceilings and gable roof with a small attic space above. I also went with 6'' of 4000psi concrete with rebar and fibermesh. Best part is was able to finally get a lift! I went with a Atlas Kwik Bay 7k which worked out nicely as my car just clears the 4" height by about 1"

Good catch 6' of conrete would have been a "little" excessive. Overall I am really happy with the garage. I went with a ZAP control jack shaft garage door opener to free up space and I am very happy with it.

Do you like your lift? I'm probably going to get one at the end of the month. Just curious to see how well you like your's.

I like the lift a lot. I spend several months comparing the MaxJax, Bendpack, and Atlas (I actually saw them in person and tried them). Even though my concrete is plenty strong I was not a fan a the two stops on the MaxJax even though I could have drilled holes in each post to have more stops. For me the Atlas had the most locking stops (13) and the locks engage going up and are pneumatically released. The positioning blocks are also really nice and even better is the fact that my car clears it. Although the garage is a two car, I never drive the WRX and leave it parked over the lift. Hope that helps.

That helps seal the deal for me then. Thanks! :)

In many ways this garage is one of the most interesting on GJ. Because it is a standard size with all the constraints that includes it will be interesting to see how you use it. You already have all the basics, sub panel, tool chest, air compressor, work bench, air line and air hose reel, jack and a really nice vise and stand. Plus the luxury of a lift. What other things do you have planned? Is that aluminum PEX for the airline?

The airline that I use is made by rapid air and is called AirNet. It was not cheap but it is a quality product that I was willing to pay for. The line is vinyl coated aluminum. I made the vise stand over the winter with 4" O.D. .25" wall steel tubing. The base plate is .625 inch water jetted plate. The top plate was designed to be removable with two bolts if I ever need it. I still have to move my small tig welder and ox/acetyl setup into the garage. I like having as much open space as possible and my tools are all catered to working on Subarus so we will see how much more I will move into it.

Just a few more updates. I put in my one shelving unit that consists of Gorilla rack. To hold a few detailing items. I placed my pressure washer and hose reel as well. I wash the cars in the alley so it is very convenient to have the hose and washer inside of the garage ready for use. I also installed some gladiator panel which will have a couple of hooks to hold some small items. Also pictured is the Zap opener for the garage door.

Here is my vise stand. I still have to figure out exactly where I want to bolt it down.

Any reason why you went with a ZAP jack shaft opener rather than a lift-master 3800 which is cheaper?

The reason I went with the Zap was for its simplicity. There are no photo sensors or cable tension sensors. As far as the price goes if you call a dealer you can generally get it for much less than it is listed for. Also, the circuit board has multiple headers than can be used for various types of interlocks. I have not pictured it but, that way the opener is setup now it that it locks out its position as soon as the lift is powered. This way the door will not inadvertently open and hit the car depending on how high it is lifted.
