I am having serious trouble finding work boots in my area. I always have ever since I started turning wrenches in high school thanks to being a rather large guy. I do not like to buy boots/shoes online without being able to try them on, but I may not have a choice.

Does anyone know of an online source that is really really good about taking back returns? possibly more than one return!

I am trying to find a size 15 4E steel toe lace up boot. at least 8" high lace up and good arch support. soft soles a plus.

Any input?

Try White's Boots in Spokane, WA. They have a website, you can measure your own feet and send them in the specs and they will build it. They have a great arch support, steel toe, celastic toe whatever you want. And the boots are 100% rebuildable by them. Your gonna pay though, $500.00 for the pair I just recently purchased.

Most of the time you will have it within 2 days.. If I am questioning what size I should get I order 2 then return the other. They also have a massive selection.

I have the same problem: 11.5 6E shoe. Hitchcock's specializes in wide shoes and boots. I've bought a good deal of stuff from them and have been very happy with their support I've tried their brand and have been very happy, but they also sell other brands that are exceptional. One in particular is Drew. Whether it's their house brand or some other brand I think you will definitely find something in your price range at Hitchcock. Their website is:

Wideshoes.com

Good luck.

I have a very lightly used pair of redwing boots. I think the back is 6-8" tall and its a full lace up dark brown color.

they are size 14, not sure on the width but will check. Mom bought them for my grandpa but grandpa is in the nursing home now and shoes are provided. She paid a little over $240 for the pair and has barrily seen use.

I'll put them in my classifieds section in the next day or 2.

It must be an issue in north carolina, I delivered there a few years back and had my carhartt bibs on and my jacket and the guy was floored with what I had on, he asked me where I got them and stated that in North Carolina they can't buy clothes that heavy.

I have mine made by these folks,
http://www.grundmanshoe.com/

11-1/2 6E wide safety toe full metatarsal.I order on by phone they ship to my house BUT I went there to have my feet measured, use it as a vacation.
If you have unusual feet there is nothing better than good fitting boots.
I have pairs that have been re-soled and I am looking at getting a pair re-built......these are DAMNED good boots but mine are not cheap because of being custom.

These guys are an old local company with a strong foothold here in Canada. You can trace your foot on a piece of paper and send it in and they'll send you the right ones. I think they have an on line order system too.

I own a pair of White's...

http://www.whitesboots.com/

We also have Nick's boots in Spokane, but I think their quality is slipping. Couple of guys I work with ain't happy with their customer service...something about the counter guy being a jerk....don't know, I've owned White's for years, and spending all day with a welder or in the ditch is hard on boots.
