Maybe this has been discussed on this board before if it has I apologize for bringing it back up. I am on my phone and the search feature is not working properly. I am in process of building a garage and was wondering if you guys thought the Big Ads Lights were worth the extra cash.

Saw a rep today. They have a smaller, circular light that is pretty cool. It's mainly interior, but rated for 'damp'. Can control light color and intensity. Pricing was $150 - $200 per fixture depending on finish (white was $150). 4 of those in a residential garage might be better then 1 or 2 of the garage lights, as there would be less shadow. Definitely not the cheapest way to go, but the ability to go from very warm to very cold light might be useful to some people.

Just wanted to update on this thread. I decided to give these lights a shot. I have a 30x32 garage with 10' ceilings. At the recommendation of the manufacturer I bought 4 of the 2' lights. I was a but skeptical as this did not seem like enough lighting for my space. I will admit I am very impressed. I could not believe how bright these are and the color is amazing.

I bought one of their 3 foot lights, 14k lumens to try. I was worried that the lights are not big enough to cover the square footage. I plugged it up outside last night. I could have landed planes. I would like some pics as well!

We evaluated them for 100k sqft lighting project and found them to be over priced and less durable than others

I just spoke with a lighting consultant at Big *** Lights about their lights. I am in the process of a 30X40 build with 11' flat ceilings and they recommended 4 light fixtures which if memory serves me correct, would put me at 40 foot candles. The lady said that would be lighting for a normal garage. She then said that a car dealership and mechanics bays are usually at 50 foot candles. I told her that I didn't want any shadows and she recommended 6 fixtures which puts me at 48 foot candles (two rows of 6). I'm still skeptical that only 6 fixtures that are 2 foot long can do that same as say 20 4' LED fixtures with 2200 lumen T8 LED bulbs. I have asked Platonic Solid who has the stickies in the lighting forum to help me with a layout and he has not replied yet so I'm really not sure what all I need

I will get you all some pictures As far as being skeptical, I was very skeptical. After I got them hung I was even more unsure. Once I got power to the building I was very pleased. Every other garage I have had, I have had florescent fixtures and it was quite different to only see 4 2 feet long lights over the ceiling.

The big *** lights haven't evolved in 3 years, while the LED industry has moved forward at a blinding pace. Consequently, they are over-engineered, under-performing, and waaaay over-priced. They offer no features that you cant find in a better priced unit.
Unless you just really like telling your friends that you have "big ***" lights, you can do better.
Good luck
