I've done a lot of searching and came up with most of my answers, but still have a couple I could use some help with. I've got the heater mounted to the ceiling, and getting ready to do my vent. Hoping to order all the pieces and do it in one shot, as no local supply for cat 3 piping.

Horizontal 4" vent.

#1 Will I need an appliance adapter to connect my z-flex z-vent piping to the heater or will it be direct fit?

#2 How far is best to run my pipe outside the building? A 4ft section would get me about approx. 15 inches if I don't need an appliance adapter.

#3 Which style vent hood should I use? I've seen several different styles, or does it really matter?

And just for the hell of it, any input on on vent slope? Instructions say to pitch it toward the heater, but in my searching I've come up with a lot of mixed feelings about that. Seems logical to me to pitch it away.

Thanks for any input.

1. I have the 50k and my heater came with a 3" exhaust so I had to get a 3" to 4" adapter for the Saf-T Vent that I used.

2. The Mr Heater manual should give you a minimum vent length and the minimum distance it needs to be away from any overhangs/soffits.

3. I used a Tee Termination on mine.

4. My understanding as to why they spec the vent to be sloped upwards is so that in the case there is any leak in the vent it is less likely that the exhaust gases will leak into the structure.

The horizontal vent kit Mr. heater sells has instructions that specify upward slope, 5’ minimum total pipe length, T style exhaust end terminating a certain dystsnce from the outside of the wall — I forget whether 12 or 18”
