Hello everyone - I am a brand new member looking for advice in helping my son install a Big Maxx 50K BTU natural gas unit.
My main question appears to be a common question running through a lot of these posts - making the connection to the furnace flue outlet. I have gone through most of them - but I am not finding the exact response I am looking for.
The furnace flue outlet is just shy of 4" OD with three (3) pre-drilled holes spaced approximately 120 degrees apart.
We are planning to run 4" vertical B-Vent. We purchased a 4" draft hood connector which fits over the factory installed flue connection. I assume we want the draft hood connection to fit OVER the factory flue connection - is this correct?
I also assume we would need to try to match up the hole locations or drill three (3) new holes through both the factory flue connection and the draft hood connection?
I was planning to install 3 - #8 self-tapping stainless screws for this connection to the heater.
Is any hi-temp sealant required or recommended on these screws?
Any advice and recommendations on your experiences that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. See attached photos. Thank you.
