Big maxx heater ecobee 4 thermostat

So I purchased my heater , vent kit and got a very good deal on a ecobee 4 can I use this too run the heater or do I need a social relay? I keep reading that it’s recommended to use a relay with it even in the Manual or was this years ago and is not needed now? Also when running my thermostat wire from the heater to the ecobee how many wires should I run 4 or 5 wire? Thank you!

Looks like you just need 4 wires, per https://www.mrheater.com/mwdownloads/download/link/id/30/

R/G/W/C for Power/Fan/Heat/Common respectively.

However, I'd run 5 for future use/spare.

Ecobee got back to me and said I don’t need anything else just thr 4 wires to run that heater correctly

Just a note on using the Ecobee... I think the lowest temperature setting is 45 degrees.

Depending on your garage situation, this might be too high... I wanted one that just keeps it above freezing when not actively being out there. Not many will go down to 35.

When I googled it. It claimed it was 2 degrees farenheit that’s why I wanted the ecobee instead of the best which only goes down to 50 I hope that’s not the case

45 is the lowest setting
